I am really starting to feel like im a fix er upper project, I have spent the last week sitting in so many doctors offices its giving me a complex...
First it was the sports medicine doc, they want to do a complete rebuild/ replacement of my left knee, he said 6" above, 4" below and the patella needs replacing. My right knee needs mcl and acl repair and a little shave off part of the bone.
Next i saw the hand doctor, they want to replace the screws and 2 pins in my right hand, left hand needs 2 tendons reconnected.
Then back to the sports doc to talk about my shoulder, they want to reshape the bone on both sides of the socket and do something with the rotator cuff, if i remember that conversation correctly.
Yesterday i saw a foot doc to schedule a procedure to have 4 bones re-broken and reset in my foot, then went to a surgeon for my wife, apparently she has a full tear and separation of her hip so she needs surgery now.
Today was fun as well i started of at the dentists office for a cleaning and ended up finding out they need to replace one of the pins in my jaw, apparently when i dislocated it badly last month i screwed something up bad....Then this afternoon i heard back about the tests my daughters and i had done on our hearts. My daughters hearts are all good, no issues whatsoever, that made me smile even after i found out that im having issues with my valves degrading.
So im seriously thinking about having my name changed to humpity dumpty, seriously what else is gonna fall apart on me?
So the plan is next week my wife and i are meeting for a long lunch with all of my doctors, The sports doctor thinks that since I have issues with my body taking a long time to heal after surgeries it might be in my best interests to get a majority of these procedures done at the same time, or back to back.
So i guess summer vacation is going to be an adventure after all.......

but isnt modern medicine something i would never thought many years ago about bionic tkr changing my life but they have

This is alot to take in, but it all doesn't have to be done at the same time. These are also positive things that will get you feeling better when they are done.
We are here to listen and here for you when you go through these procedures.
When they fix all these things do you still have to worry about dislocating them again. Humpty dumpty is cute. But I prefer the Bionic man. May God be with you all. Please keep us updated.

If only they can do all your procedures during one time in the OR.
Wouldn't that be nice, but I think you'd need a whopping amt of pain meds to deal with the post-surgical pain.
Glad to hear your daughters' hearts are OK. I'm sure you agree that I'd rather have the illnesses instead of my son.

You have been through so much, yet have such a good spirit about you.....always looking at the positive side. As a parent, I am so glad to hear about your daughter's tests being so positive, however, I am terribly sorry about your own test results. I just don't have any words for what you are about to go through with all of your surgeries, except that you will be in my prayers that all goes well and you can begin the road to healing. I do think that getting them done at the same time sounds like a good plan. I am sure it will take alot out of you and you will have to be more courageous than ever, but something tells me that that will not be a problem for you, because you are after all....the bionic man. I hope and pray that your wife's surgery goes well and that she may also being the healing process.

By the way, good news on the children, but (possibly aside from prolapse) heart problems usually don't appear in EDS for decades.
As far as the meeting with the doctors went.... It sucked, they politely informed me that since my EDS has a long and difficult history of compromising the way my body heals the doctors all agree that there will be no surgeries for me until each individual joint completely fails....
Bullox, they apologized for this and told me they understand that this will drag out my issues and prolong my suffering, but they said they just can't risk surgery until it is the last case scenario... They also agreed to bump my meds up whenever I feel my pain is worse. Which is a small comfort since I am wanting less pills not more...
Oh well it's just more of the ssdd as always....
But you know what? I'm still smiling, because no matter the pain.... Still here.....
