Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Some of the things being said make me sure it is a sciatic nerve in my left back leg buttock area, but other things said do not. I did a yes for sciatic and no for sciatic below:
◼Such as the location of the pain (Buttock back leg hip area) YES
◼Standing still is the worst-it feels better walking, but the pain is not as bad as standing still. Also, it's only on one side, my left. YES
◼What makes me believe it May Not be sciatica is the fact that I am an avid exerciser and I had to stop because of this excrutioning pain that happened about 7-weeks ago and just got worse and worse. And, I'm gaining weight. Nothing like this ever happened to me before and if I strained a muscle, it would be fine in a few days. NO
◼Another reason I think it may not be sciatic nerve pain is that many people recommend exercising to help with the pain and that is Not possible for me and I have had multiple surgeries, beat septic shock, etc. and what I'm experiencing is really bad pain where I can't even stand at work-thank god (I work on a college campus) and we are shut down due to the coronavirus. NO
◼So far, I've only had an ultra sound, which showed nothing. EITHER
◼I've just seen the primary doctor who gives me meds that don't help a bit and I've tryed three so far. I need "pain meds". However, after reading through your posts and facebook posts, many people say to go to a chiropractor, so I'm going to find one and set up an appt. if I can sometime next week. (EITHER YES OR NO)
◼Any thoughts or suggestions would be really helpful.
Thanks to all of you hear trying to help one another get through another day.
I hope someone heals their pain and can tell an amazing story we would all love to hear. Thanks again for listening, Diane
I just joined this site a few days ago, as I'm in terrible pain and I'm wondering if it is Sciatic nerve pain. I left two messages, but haven't received any responses. Just want to make sure I'm checking in the right area of the site-obviously new to this board.
Thank you very much, Diane
Thanks for writing and relating to my story. I went to see a chiropractor early last week and he thought it was a muscular issue and sent me home with exercises to do. I was supposed to follow up Saturday and text him, but then the town went on shut down due to the coronavirus. Yes, it's been over two months and the pain is there and just as severe everyday-I'm very active and it's driving me crazy, I need to workout.. I don't think the doctor made the right diagnoses after reading everyone's post because its in the same area (left buttock to back of thigh)-it hurts more standing in one spot than walking and nothing takes the pain away-not even pain killers. A friend gave me one to try and it did nothing. My primary doctor prescribed me several things and they didn't make any difference either, although none were serious pain relievers, just mild muscle relaxers, etc. Also, the exercises have not provided any relief. I'm at my wits end. My girlfriend just suggested another chiropractor and I promised her I would look into it once lock down is over. I hope he is as great as she says he is. I'm going to email the other chiropractor first and tell him I think it's sciatic. Did they find anything before you had surgery on an ultra-sound or MRI? I had an ultra sound, which didn't show anything, but I think I want to get an MRI if theres a better chance of maybe seeing something there. When you said you got your diagnoses? What exactly did they base it upon? This may be a dumb question, but do they have a specific test to find out if you have a sciatic nerve? Thanks for listening and I hope things get better for you too. If this lasts another month, my body is going to look like Jello. I'm a post kidney transplant and already on weight gainers, such as steriods (prednisone) along with weight gaining anxiety sleeping meds. When you get a new kidney, they tell you it will cause you to gain 10 lbs, but I gained 20lbs! Thanks again and hope to hear from you. I think we are the only two people on this thread from 2020, LOL.
