Hi Crazy,
You can get some SI injections if that is what you new diagnosis is. According to what I've heard, SI shots do work and they give you relief, so that is something to look into. Talk to your pain management Doctor about them, OK? Take care,
7 years ago I spent 2 years with a minimally invasive pain management doctor who tried the SI joint blocks on me. It gave me 2 days worth of relief. My issue though was my disc at L5-S1 with annular tears (eventual spinal fusion) without pain running down my legs, thus the SI joint block was more of an experiment since my doctor was being very proactive.
Do the research and if you're comfortable with your doctor then by all means try the SI joint block and hopefully it will alleviate your SIJ pain.

With that in mind, quit smoking asap! Eat a healthy diet, stay very well hydrated (plain green tea is awesome) with water, and by no means remain lethargic. Even if it means walking in circles around your home, keep moving.
Best of luck and keep educating yourself!
You might ask about a dicogram (no it's not Western Union at a dancing spot). It will surely let you know if a disc is involved. It's the only thing I know of that proves pain and cures skeptical doctors.
