A while ago, someone mentioned the name of a Lyme Disease test that's more accurate than the standard one. I can't remember which thread it was on or the name of it...no surprise there!
I'm being forced to revisit a pain clinic today because my PCP thinks there might be some unusual thing going on with me that she hasn't thought of.
I've had three people in different areas of the medical field, ask me if I'd been tested for Lyme. I was told to check out a website so I could see if I thought it sounded like me. What an eye opener!
Lyme Disease can mimic MS, Lupus, Fibro, Arthritis...and on and on. My doc ordered the standard blood test a couple years ago and it as negative, but I learned that 50% of the time, it's a false negative. She won't take seriously, my request for further testing so I thought I'd give it a shot at the pain clinic today.
I just can't remember the name of the test that was mentioned somewhere on this board! Help!

Sorry i can't help on the name.
My niece had Lyme disease as a child and had to have 2 courses of IV antibiotics to wipe it out. At the time I suggested she be tested for aLupus as I have it and she had alot of the symptoms. Now knowing that Lyme mimics lupus makes a lot of sense.

My doc has exhausted her family practice skills and hasn't been able to manage my pain with any combination of meds, yet. She is hoping that the doc I'm seeing today at a big teaching hospital, will think of something that she hasn't.
When I was married, we spent a lot of time at the family Summer home in southern NH...surrounded by woods. That is Lyme country. The website I was directed to said a person can have chronic Lyme for many years and not know it.
I just figured that since I'm going this pain clinic for help, it might be a good ime to bring it up. I've had the standard test and it came back negative, but I've learned that 50% of the tests are a false negative!
I'm desperate for relief so I can have a life again. I don't want to eliminate anything until I know for sure and so many of the symptoms fit me.
