Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Sending gentle comforting hugs for you. Take care... xxx
I have to work for a couple hours and bake for the rest of the day. My coworker is a 2 time cancer survivor and works hard to raise money for research. She asked if I would donate some stuff for a bake sale tomorrow.
I love to bake and wish I had a reason to. Keeping busy, for me, is the best way to escape from the pain for a while. And when it's for a good cause that's a double win.
When my children were growing up, I cooked all the time. They had only homemade bread and the cookie jar was never empty. When I opened my salon over 6 years ago, I found an outlet for my need to feed people. I serve all kinds of muffins and cookies and they've come to expect it.
My mother and sister help me with that, now, though I still do quite a bit. I can pace myself with cooking...not so easy with doing hair.
I'm fearful of what will happen as I continue to decline. Every day of work is a painful endurance test.
I can't come close to working full days, anymore. Perhaps if I was on long acting pain meds... The ones I do take aren't even working for a short time.
As far as the men go I am convinced most feel out of sorts & uncomfortable with this type of thing. They don't seem to deal well with what they cannot fix. I think it may be a man thing.
As far as you medication, my goodness it sounds like your working with only SA meds & that wont cut it. I was the same for years & finally could not take it anymore. Told my PM I want to keep as much in my life as I can & the Short acting was not allowing me to do so nor where they lasting as long as they should. I asked would a long acting help with reducing the short acting so I could attempt to gain control without giving up my life. It took me to bring it up for him to try it.
I don't have a good LA med anymore with my insurance change & can take only a low dose but I know it helps if only a wee bit.
Better then nothing. Look into a long acting. I will say I don't know of anyone who does not still require the SA as a break thru med.
You created a wonderful memory with your Grand daughter & I'm going to bet she will always remember it.
Good luck & I hope you can get a good long acting to help you out. Lots of memories to make.
God bless, Sammy
I took my second dose at 8:30 this morning and got enough relief to work for 2 1/2 hours. Now, at 11:30, pain is wicked again. Three hours is not enough to amount to much. I don't expect to be painfree...I'd settle for pain...less!
At my next appt. I'll talk to her about a higher dose and the long acting type.
Thanks for listening...Cherry
My 8 year old daughter always knows when my pain levels are high and does little things for me without being asked. She cleans the coffee table and tidies up the kitchen. She asks me often if a need a drink or food and my favourite thing is the foot massages.
They are absolutely horrible. She really only pinches the skin but I sit through every one she gives. She feels that the massages ease my pain. I'm never going to tell her otherwise. She is so proud of herself for helping me.
I'm so glad you have such a wonderful, caring granddaughter. She is truly priceless.
I did way too much today and am really feeling it, now. I helped my co-worker prepare for a bake sale for Cancer research. She and her sister are both survivors and do a lot to raise money. She asked her friends on facebook if they'd bake something and not one responded! Apparently, I'm all her friends this time!
So...I baked all afternoon. Ouch....
Your granddaughter sounds really sweet and understanding.
Hope that she never loses that compassion as she grows up.
Sounds like you need to learn that little word that we all find so hard to say >NO< a bit more often. And it is hard to do,no question about it!
