Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Why hate your body? Hate your Doctor for not giving you the tools that you need to have your pain under control, or at least more manegable. Do you have a pain management Doctor, or is she a GP? If she is a GP, I found that most GP are afraid to precribe narcotics because they are afraid of the DEA and the possibility of loosing their license. You need to find a good PM Doc ASAP.
I can tell you that I've been in pain management now for 4 years, and even though my pain is always there (4-5 level), I can function better and have a better quality of life because my Doctor prescribe the meds and interventions to make my life easier. Instead of waiting to see if this Doctor is going to help you, you need to help yourself. Check out if there are good pain management Doctor's in your city, check out; www.doctorsforpain.com or go to the American Academy Of Pain Medicine website; www.painmed.org, and find a Doctor that will be willing to help you.
Sitting idle does not help, try to find a good Doctor, and someone that will treat your whole body, and then maybe you can start having better days, and a better life. Remember, if you do not advocate for you, no one else will, so get on the ball and find someone that can help.
Big Hugs,
I was treated like I was just looking for drugs at the clinic I'd gone to for years. The doc I have now worked there for a while and didn't care for the way it was run and I had just switched to her. So when she left, I followed. I feel that it was a mistake since I can never reach her, but she was the first one who had at least tried to help me.
I will check those websites for some information. Thanks, Tipper. Sorry to be such a PIA! The idea that this might possibly be managed is totally nw to me. If my pain was under comtrol and I could stop working...maybe I could make the move that I so desperately need.
I sure don't like change.
I hope you have a little peace sometime this day and a special person comes forward to help you.
Hugs,
Linda
@Cherry - you are never whining. I am having similar issues. From what everyone has told me just be strong and honest with your doc. Tell her that this is severely affecting your life and you need more help.
Easier said then done, I know.
Hang in there. PM me anytime. I am going off boards for awhile but will be on others. I am praying for you!
Hugs
Kallie
I know how you feel. There are times when I am so angry that I am stuck in this useless body.
I have had to learn to leave some mess. The amount of meds that gets rid of all my pain can only be adminstered by an anesthelogist. Who wants to live asleep all the time?
I prioritize my work. I get done the important things and let others go. I also make a list of what will set off the pain, what needs rest period after and what can be accomplished while in pain without causing it to worsen.
I accomplihed this with a pain journal where I wrote out my pain level, what I did before and after, what made it better, what made it worse. Then I planned out my day so I can do as much as possible without killing myself.
Of course, there are days when nothing works and I feel rotten anyway. On those days, I struggle thru the critical items and then say to h*ll with the rest.
Hope you find something that helps you.
Because you don't have a pain management Doctor, I send you in my first post, the websites to 2 very reliable sources were all you need to do is put the city that you live in, and then find a Doctor that will treat your pain. If you do not advocate for yourself NO ONE ELSE WILL, so get on those websites, and make a list of the Doctor's in your area, and start calling and making appointments. It took me 6, yes SIX pain management Doctor's before I found the one that I have right now, and I absolutely love him!
It takes work to find a good pain management Doctor, and is work that gives dividends, so you can either keep seeing that Doctor that does not treat your pain correctly, or you can use your time to look for a good pain management Doctor that will take care of your pain, and allow you to have a better quality of life.
hugs,
I really need to find a female doc...old junk.
Thanks,
Cherry

I don't know what and I wouldn't hire me in this condition!
Thanks for the support,
Cherry
I'm assuming you would tell them to ask any time they need help; always happy to be of assistance. If I'm right, then ask yourself this: What makes you think you're any better than they are? You would drop everything to help them, so let them have the opportunity to do the same for you. They love you as much as you love them. Give them a call. Your body will feel better and so will your heart.
Gentle hugs to you.
