" Because of all the addicts, and deaths happening around the world, we the pain patients and the doctors who treat us are now being forced to do many things which didn't used to be done. It is unfortunate, but it is becoming law in many states. If the doctors who care enough to treat us want to keep their medical license they will follow the new protocol or be under investigation by the feds and the DEA. They have no choice and neither do we .... if we want to be treated, we will continue to be abused and treated as children, criminals, etc. It is a sad state of affairs but a necessary one if they are to weed out the people who are only there to get drugs for an addictive habit, or just to sell them and make their auto payments. We need to band together and work with and through the system with our government officials if we are ever to stop some of the really bad behaviors I've been subjected to and many others are dealing with. There is a group here on D.S. called, "Your Own Beat Advocate," where there is a lot of information shared about what to do so you know your own rights as a patient and what to do to help you help yourself. Go look, and add anything you believe would be helpful to anyone in our situations. Also look up web-sites about National Pain organizations and inform yourself. I know I can't sit here at the computer long because it creates, out-of-control pain for me, but I read and learn as much as my disease will allow me to. Keep an open mind, and try not to be angry with the docs and clinics, as it is not their idea. This is all being created because of the, "War On Drugs," in America, and the untimely deaths of too many people who have been under-educated about their medications and how to take them safely, and by those running a muck and crazy about drugs, who are misinformed about the difference between a patient taking medication and addicts.
