Hello to all I haven't been on for a while, but its time again , I need to talk to people who understand what we all go through. The ones out there that know me and my history, I finally got out of my abusive and 34 year old bad marriage. But its not easy out here either. Living on disability money , in pain from diabetic neuropathy , trying to find a place to live has been a nightmare I have moved 3 times in 5 months and might have to move again. People really suck I have totally lost faith in humanity and people in general. Its really hard to deal with my problems without a comfortable safe place to live. I am in a 1 bedroom apt in a shitty part of town, dealing with cockroaches and a unstable landlord , my last friend has been staying with me because he is out of work and basically has no place to go. I have to get off the narcotics but the pain is so bad, I just started lyrica again and hope it helps this time. Anyway when I talk to my friend he has the same attitude as everyone else who doesn't have our problems. I even pulled some strings and got him a job, I just know as soon as he is on his feet I won't see him again, I can spot the users a mile away. I am a nice guy and everyone takes advantage of me. I want off the pain meds so bad they are killing me but the pain in my legs are so bad, he says he has pain and all I have to do is go to detox and deal with it. Its been over 2 years and I have been trying everything to deal with it. I'm tired that's all I can type for now. Hello to all my friends out there hope all is well

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

Going off pain meds shouldn't be attempted unless you're under the supervision of a doctor or clinic.
I too am a "giver." I have stopped giving so much because it just hurts too much. Try it. If doing this stuff causes you distress then try to force yourself to stop. It's not easy but I have found great peace and happiness by not allowing myself to be taken advantage of.
Again, I'm sorry you hurt so bad. I hope you find some relief soon. Take care.
Laura
We've not met as I'm new here, but I hear exactly what you say.
So often I have found that a friend is only a friend when you are of use to them, and if you ask for support in return they are out the door in a shot.
Well you are amongst friends here who understand, of that I'm sure, so don't be a stranger.
Janine
Yes, you are a nice guy, for sure. Please let the *friend* go...you don't need freeloaders in your life right now. Mark, it's time to take care of you.
I don't know what to tell you about how you can improve your living situation. But I know there is hope.
Take it one day at a time...
Lori
Sorry you have to come back here but I'm glad you did.
I don't know what to really say- your life stinks right now. But I do believe it will get better.
As for your friend, why not cut him loose now? Is he contributing financially to you? If not, I think you're better off without him.Be careful with your narcotics if you're not in a safe environment. don't tell anybody you are on them. Word will manage to get back to the abusers and then you're really screwed.
You're in my prayers!
Sandy
i remember you well. welcome back. i'm glad to hear you got out of a long unhappy/unhealthy marriage. it takes a lot of courage. I'm sorry you're struggling financially and with cp. CP has devastated me financially too and in every other area of my life.
like others, i suggest you cut your "friend" loose. last thing u need is an unsupportive person living with u.
i'm not sure i understand why you want to stop using opiods it sounds like you have serious pain and the medication helps?
do u derive pleasure or get a buzz from taking opiods? if no, then i would think twice about weaning off unless of course lyrica or another med provides some relief.
i wish u all the best.
welcome back I've been on and off the board for a few years so I'm not sure if I remember you but cheers for getting out of a abusive marriage. seems your friendship might be hurting you as well and you must put yourself first I know easier said that done.
are there any local services that can help you find a better place to live? In my area we have 211 from any pay phone they have it in most areas and it helps you find housing, energy assistance, support groups in your area... they can help point you in the right direction and help with your over all well being.
glad you came back and keep us posted I'll be thinking of you

Ache , our pain and the need for opioid dependency we are instantly drug addicts . I am just tired of fighting trying to make them understand. Its bad enough I can't work and have to live off the little money I get from disability , but I am finally away from my abusive wife . I just diddnt expect to loose my daughters especially my 24 year old my 18 year old did go through some tough times when the wife would start on me and I said things I should have not said that she was subjected to , more to come have to rest
Why keep arguing with this "friend"? Are you afraid that without him you will be alone? I know what it feels like to not have many people around. Someone else will come around though. I promise you this, life just works that way.
If you just want to keep him around, then stop arguing with him. Us Cpers will never be totally understood by those that aren't. When he gives you a hard time just smile and say I'm glad you care. That should stop him in his tracks!
Talk to your dr about the meds and tell him about your past. Together you can plan what is best for you.
Best wishes!
