ok, I tried this and at hr 4(she prescribed every 8hrs) it drops off dramatically, then I have to take oxycodone, so whats the point? Iam now taking short-acting every 4 hrs, they dont carry 20mg, so I have to take 4, 10's. Sigh, why doesnt anything seem to work well for me? Evenings are bad, even the oxy doesnt help much,all I can do is sit with my heated corn bag and crochet.
I think this should be standard for PM patients so the doctor does know exactly what he's dealing with.
I was on Oxy yrs ago, shortly before they changed it.
It was my pharmacist who recommended it to me.
So I told my PM & he agreed to let me try it. Great coverage for me. Lost it when my insurance changed. Now I have new insurance.
I get to go back on it soon & I'm concerned will the new version work? I'll be bummed Ive been looking forward to some relief here. Many CPers changed to some form or LA morphine, which makes me really sick. Many found they like it. I think the Reputation of Oxy stuck with a lot of people, as it was said to work so well.
They are really pushing for LA use so you may want to try another.
Mentioning some of the things discussed here with your doctor may help. Can't help it if something like your metabolism is disrupting the coverage. Ive heard of others passing it in their stool also.
There is the patch if you have not tried that. or Meth. Some doctors do not like using it but I have a friend that swears by it.
We simply cannot help it & the doctors dang well know it takes time to find whats going to work.
You may want to mention that. perhaps something like "Ive heard finding the right medication to cover each individuals pain can take time" That would cut off some objections from your doctor as its the truth & we all know it, so do they.
Ive said that exact thing to my PM. As I don't react well to many medications. I was worried sick every time I'd go in & have to tell him the med was not working or was making me sick.
No LA lasts the amount of time they say that Ive know of.
Maybe the patch but no oral meds.
Pain in the butt but hey do what needs to be done as its your life here.
I know you have really suffered & I hope you find some relief. Its a bummer to go through all the pain & worry about your PMs reaction at the same time.

So, right now Iam taking short-acting 30-40mg 5 times daily, then at night I take the long lasting.
