In a previous post I had mentioned that I hurt my foot and had X-rays. It is now been a week and the pain is worse. I am taking 600 mg of Motrin and it is not helping the pain. I decided to call the doctor that the hospital recommended I follow up with. It's really funny because they referred me to a hand surgeon. Duh!!! I called the office and their earliest appointment was Nov 18. I then proceeded to call all the local doctors AND podiatrists in my area and no one could see me for at least two weeks. I took a chance and called the office of the surgeon who operated on my ulnar and radial nerve. They were able to get me in to see a foot doc tomorrow morning. I can't believe this. What if my foot was broken- and I am not totally convinced at this point it's not- you would have to wait 2 weeks for a cast? That is totally ridiculous.

Makes me wonder if we are seeing the fall-out of Obamacare. They predicted that many doctors would leave the profession because of lower rates. Also shortages in appts because so many more people would have insurance and seek services.
BTW what did you xray show?
Years ago my son hurt his finger playing baseball. Went to the ortho the next day because his hand was blue and pinky was swollen. They did X-rays and found nothing. wrapped his hand and sent us home. Two days later he was still getting blue and greenish coloring and it still hurt a lot. Back to the doctor for another X-ray and there was the break. Ortho said it is common, especially in kids, for it to take a few days and some attempted movement to displace the fracture so it shows on an X-ray.
Your ER discharge paperwork should have a number for a nurse. Call them and tell them what it looks like and that you can't get into a doctor for another two weeks. They may tell you to come back for another X-ray. The other option is a walk in clinic that would order an X-ray. Good luck.
