You may be correct that being on the owner's plan helps - LOL. My former employer had Anthem BCBS when they pulled the plug on my wife the day she started with Medicare. I really believe that this is SOP. We did not want Medicare, or even knew that she would be switched to it, until after SS agreed that she was disabled then the switch was automatic.
I don't think that Medicare can be secondary to anything - but just guessing. Since your BCBS knows that you have Medicare I am surprised that they have not abandoned you. You may want to keep a low profile.......
One other thing that may not apply, but I will mention it: if a person's disability is due to an accident where either another insurance company is involved, or if there is a lawsuit in the game, be prepared for Medicare and SSD, and/or your main medical insurance provider to come looking for their share of any legal settlement. From first hand experience, they get second grabs at the lawsuit settlement money after the lawyers take what they want (maybe before the lawyers, I do not remember).
