I don't know how many of you watched Nightline tonight, but it might be worth mentioning. I'm NOT saying anyone here would be one of the people targeted, but I know that sometimes, people go to extreme lengths to make their pain go away, and those people are being targeted.
There's a new scam for people who order meds online. I've seen the ads for meds online b/c they show up as pop ups, but I haven't ever used them. Tonight's Nightline had a segment about the new scam. 1st, the people who order ambien or other meds online are often ordering from the Dominican Republic. (I had a terrible experience in Punta Cana b/c of the type of people who try and hurt others. In my case I saw a woman who was drunk/drugged being attacked. This scam is different, but still hostile.)
Basically, they get customers' info when they buy meds online, then send official looking papers saying they're from the DEA and also, threatening phone calls, all saying the customer has broken the law and owes lots of money based on the laws they broke. They're VERY convincing, and often, scare the customer into paying them. Then they come back for more.
In one case, they even sent men to the home of a woman who had purchased meds online posing as DEA agents. This is a well-thought out scam and they're all out to extort money. In several cases the customers- now victims, pay several times, and are terrified of being found out so they pay and pay.
The saddest part was one husband found his wife having killed herself b/c of these leeches. She was convinced she was going to jail after they'd bled her dry.
I doubt anyone here is buying online, but if so, beware! I have NO idea what is legal or not, if there are doctors involved or not, but this is an extortion scam that is working well b/c the victims are terrified not only of going to jail, but of being found out.
I had read about this, but the story Nightline did was really hard to watch. Viagra, Ambien, Flexeril- these are meds NOT worth losing your life over. Nothing is worth that.
Isn't it just like the leeches in this world to find another group of people to attache themselves to? As if CP patients don't have enough trouble!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
First; there is no way of knowing who is taking down your private information... Big PROBLEMS
Second; who are these people? If they are in it to rip people off and don't care about anything but making money... how could a person trust what those crooked people send back ( if ANYTHING) is the same thing they ordered ( formulated correctly and consistent in each capsule) or even SAFE!?
Are there any "sanitary regulations" to abide by?? Umm BLECK!! I dont even want to think about it... LOL

Sadly, there are folks that are vulnerable, can't pay the high cost of meds and desperately turn to online sites, not realizing what they are getting into:(:(:(

I order my meds online thru walgreens not overseas thing. I know from growing up in a family that has legal and cops in family, that cops or anyone would not call you about your meds.
if you were in trouble they would come to your house first and bring you in to talk or they would arrest you at home.
I feel so sorry for the people that scammers hurt and I hope they can catch them and make them pay for what they do and the way they cause harm to others.
Please anyone that ever gets a call like that, call your police department. it is not worth killing yourself over it.
scammers don't give a crap who they hurt, it seems like they don't have any empathy for anyone. The dollar is all they care about.
Walgreen's, Wal-Mart and other major chains are safe venues...I was referring to those "off the wall" operations that prey on vulnerable people...
Those may even have a stateside addy but that more than likely is fake just like the concoctions they push.
The other problem with on-line is they can send you anything and you have no recourse. Most times they are illegalpurchases.

Us seniors need to stick together. Used to be the wisdom of age was respected. Now it seems we are automatically put off and told off like we are all senile.
