Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Anyhow, I'm young too...I'll be 34 in 11 days so I absolutely understand how doctors don't want to take us seriously. I have a few different CP issues. I have endometriosis/adenomyosis that's being effectively treated for the last 7 years with the Mirena IUD but I suffered with that for many many years before they did a laparoscopy. I also had cervical cancer in 2005 at 25. I have a minor neck thing but it only flares up here and there. My biggest issue is my knees...courtesy of the Army. Long story short...it took me about 5-6 years and 4 doctors to get one that would do an MRI...and now it's so bad I'm waiting for a cadaver donor for a cartilage transplant!
When we are young...doctors sometimes treat us as hypochondriacs and assume there can't be anything wrong. But we know our bodies better than anyone and we must be persistent. While it absolutely stinks to have to go to doctor after doctor after doctor I fully believe the one that listens is the one we actually want anyway...it just might not be the easiest way to find the "best" one for us.
I'm so sorry you are in so much pain but, like Tigg mentioned, keep journals...write everything down. I believe that is finally what got the doctor's attention...my persistence and putting it in writing for them to "see."
I am so sorry you had to find us but glad you did. This is a great group and I've found so much support and comfort here. I hope you do too!
Sending you pain relieving (((HUGS)))!
