   I will be 16 April 6th and I suffer from JIA in my jaw joints. Eating has become a chore for me to do I have lost 15 pounds this month from not eating. Drinking also hurts. Basically just moving my mouth is severely painful. Im having a bilateral joint replacement in 2018 I have to wait for my growth plates to close. It has caused my depression to become worse. I am on Humira for my pain, but it doesnt help much. My doctors looked at me and said there is nothing more they can do for me I just have to make it to surgery. Id really like to talk to someone my age that understands this type of pain because I have felt like suicide is my only way out, so I am reaching out for help.

Sorry, I'm older but I definitely know how the pain can drive you mad and bring on depression and make you think dark thoughts. Its hard living with non-stop pain and nobody really gets it, because they've not walked in your shoes. Unfortunately there aren't alot of meds that deal with these immunological arthritis conditions.

Have your parents considered getting a second opinion, regarding how long you have to wait for the surgery?

At 24, I'm somewhat older than you are, but I my autoimmune arthritis became debilitating when I was 14, so I have some experience being your age and dealing with chronic pain. Pain is so hard to cope with, but it's not impossible; there are ways to learn how to live a functional, meaningful life, no matter your ability level. Hi and welcome to the group. I'm really sorry you're going through this at such a young age too..I'm also older than you, I'm 46, but we all know that being in constant pain is really depressing and exhausting so I hope it helps you a bit knowing that we are here and get what you are going through. Do you know if there is a Juvenile Arthritis Support Group near you? Or have you thought about seeing a psychologist or going to a Pain Management Clinic? I don't know anything about your condition but sometimes it can really help to talk to someone, especially when you're feeling really desperate. Take care

I have to wait till 2018 summer when my growth plates close to have surgery. I am on Zoloft Welbutrin, and trileptal which are depression and mood stablizers along with anxiety medicines. There are no su;port groups near me that I have been able to find and no pain management place I live in a small town in the middle of miles and miles of farm lands not much around.

Seems you have a bunch of oldies in here! Except Megan and I remember when she first joined the room in a lot of pain and young like you, but how she has grown to handle that pain by learning techniques and reaching out like you are doing now, so I'm convinced you also can do it.

I would suggest you do get that counseling and talk to another doctor about medications. Do NOT stop taking your medications, but please ask your doctor about risks.
