Hot flashes can last all day long. Most doctor are just lazy about actually paying attention to the patient and write off complaints with the first thing that comes to mind.
With that in mind:
Hot flashes are actually withdrawal from hormones.
If you carried a few extra pounds over your lifetime, then you have some stored up in fat that your body can use.
If you were always slim, the hot flashes are much much worse because the body has nothing stored.
Hot flashes have an approximate 30 minute pattern:.
FIRST: there a period of slight cold (few notice this period or just assume it is a nearby fan or other), really it is the body struggling for the hormones. At most, around 5 minutes.
Then the heat starts that causes sweating.
That only lasts around 10 minutes. It can ebb and worsen during this time.
Then the body readjusts back to normal which can take around 15 minutes. You may feel hot or cold during this period.
This cycle repeats over and over thru the day. They are worse during the night because we naturally snuggle under covers in sleep during the cold period. By the time we wake from the heat, we are soaking wet and horribly uncomfy.
It really is up to you to figure out if it is meds or menopause. Trust yourself and your own instincts.
You are smarter than you realize.
As soon as I stopped that med, the sweats were gone. Good luck.

I hope you get some relief soon. If your meds aren't controlling your pain and they are causing bad side effects ask your PM to change your medication. Wish you the best. Hope to see you here again.
