We have private insurance and our copay for non-generic meds doubled from $22 to $44. Everything is increasing. But going from $4 to $200 is freaking ridiculous!

I think I'd call the claims dept at Medicare to find out what the deal is.

I have a friend on these patches. She get sick and overly light-headed when the "patch" is on her near the beginning. I will let her know about this. Thank you.

you can have your doctor put in forms that state that you need that drug... I had a bipolar med that was a grand a month and they didn't want to cover it so she filled out the forms and just like it was covered.
so there is hope but its the government sadly so I don't know how much that changes from plan to plan, as when you sign up for part D they always go off what your already taking and I always want to scream back but what about in the future...they never have an answer to that sadly.
I would say talk to the doctor about the insurance and see what can be done or medicare its self

There are several other brands of Fent patches out there, has he tried any others such as Malicroft or Duragesic? I believe it's Watson and Sandoz that have the gel pac type delivery system.

Mylan is one of the more popular brands among folks, but it Medicare has worked a contract with one of the other brands theres not much you can do to fight it. You might try going on the Mylan website and see if they offer prescription assistance for those who can't afford their meds.

I feel so sorry for you thats unbelievable, i know many of you struggle with paying for the meds you so badly need, and the insurances you have to pay. Im in England where there is a standed price of 7.60 for each item which is a lot of money for some people. Fortunately as im on a Disability Benefit i dont have to pay for my meds of which i have 9 different ones to take, i dread to think what we would do if i wasnt on this benefit, this applies to Dentists which is also free. I dont mean to rub your nose in it, i realy dont, i just wish you could get yours cheaper as you have to have them. The worlds going mad, or is it me, susie x

I was told in Jan.2013, that the Medicare Part D providers were paying a "portion" of certain classes of drugs that they have not covered before. My prescription went from 18$ to 95$ monthly. I have to take the name brand too, which is @ 240.00 w/o insurance...yikes. The state where you live may also make a difference, Mass.for example has a program for seniors and people on disability, income based, that paid for what Medicare would not, thus the low copay. I called them from the pharmacy thinking there was a mistake, and they informed me that the 95$ was correct and they now will only cover once I reach that "donut hole" amount.

PS.....only part of what I said posted...hmmm. Anyway I wanted to add that my Part D provider doesn't use my current pharmacy...so if I change to Walgreens, the monthly amt. goes down to$70. So I'm thinking the state you live, Part D plan details, could vary from person to person...sheesh! I too would check if the drug company's have any programs to help reduce the cost of meds. All I know is that my mother's doctor was able to get her insurance to add the pain med she took by writing a statement saying she had taken these other meds and this one was the only one that worked for her. Perhaps if your doctor can right that this brand is the only brand that you can use because or etc. you insurance company may let you. I know it hard though. My parents lost their insurance at the end of last year through Kodak and had to get another one. So because my mom has a lot of health issues and chronic pain the had to figure out a lot of things. She now can get her pain meds and her antidepressants. I hope that everything goes well for you as it does for others. I don't know what I will do if my medical insurance changes much because I will be so totally confused.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I've found that if we go to a large store..i.e. Walmart, Walgreens, CVS ect. We can get the Mylan brand for the $4.00. Thanks God.
