Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I'm on immunosuppressant medication (biologic, DMARD and prednisone) and that is the main reason I wear one!!! In an Emergency situation anyone on chronic steroids need stress doses in an emergency! Just an FYI...
angina
and medications - especially coumadin (warfarin)
- pain meds - possible withdrawal
diabetes
Yes I need to get one sorted out - and soon!
I do keep an empty bottle of my opiates in my car so that I won't get in trouble for that - but who the heck can carry all their pharmacy bottles around on them at all times? Also, i do not want my meds at the risk of someone helping themselves to them, so I keep them locked up and only keep one day's worth in my purse.
Anyway, that's my way of dealing with my medical issues/and scripts.
Peace,
Pinky
On my frequent Travel cards, like my airline card and my hotel cards, I place a sticker with my doc's name, phone and the meds I take for RSD. My bigger fear is that someone will touch my foot (NO one touches my foot below the ankle) and I tell dentists and any doc I must see that no one is to get near my foot.
Another good idea is to place a laminated card with all your medical info in your wallet or purse. I have one in each piece of luggage and one in my laptop case. I even put the info on the back of one of my business cards and taped it to the card case.
I think I'll look into getting a new Medic Alert, though, before I leave for the UK next month. We never knows what's going to happen!
I keep putting it off even though I have had the SCS for almost 2 years. I think it is a denial thing for me, like if I get one I am admitting I will be like this for the rest of my life.
It's my last form of denial. I know it sounds dumb, but I can't help it.
I will have to break down and get it soon though. PM told me on my last visit that he is going to keep hounding me until I show up in his office with it on.
I will probably go the necklace route though because my issue is in my right arm which causes pain if I wear jewelry on it, and since I always wear a watch on my left wrist, I would be more comfortable with the necklace.
Sorry, a simple yes/no answer turned into a book :-) (as mine usually do LOL
Im on pain meds and immunosuppressant drugs (DMARDS, biologic, pred)
PS for the girls out there, you can get very pretty ones.
