It has helped me greatly. I've been on it for 5 years now. It does have side effects--dizziness being the main one for me. But the side effects usually go away in a few days.

Lyrica has really helped me out! I love it and am still upping and adjusting the dose but so far it has done wonders for all my nerve pain!

It did not help me, but as you know, what works for one person, does not necessarily works on others, so go with what he has given you and hopefully it will work for you. If your insurance doesn't cover it, see if they will cover Gabapentin which is very. very similar to the Lyrica. Take care,

I've had alot better results with Topamax. It's basically for the same thing -- nerve pain. My doc put me on Lyrica for awhile, but it didn't do anything for me.

I delined on the Lyrica. I don't trust the newer meds because more often than not they develop serious dangers. I stick to the tried and true. My Doc understands completely, also some of the new meds warn of side effects that are just as bad as the pain. I know they work differently on peope so Its up to you ! Good Luck, Deb

Lyrica made me hyper as most meds do.
I tolerate neurontin though and take it instead and it gives some relief.

I've been on it for over a year (300mg a day), and except for the weight gain (which I'll take over pain any day!!) it has knocked down 80-85% of my nerve pain allowing me to function. I hope you find it works well for you. :)

Has anyone who has been on Lyrica had the weight gain side effect? I heard a lot about it so I looked it up online... and it sounds like people have gained some serious weight pretty quickly because of the Lyrica... I know everyone reacts differently... but that scares me.

I tried Lyrica too. It worked, but I had bad side affects. I got pulled over and almost got a DUI. Turned out the doctor had written down the wrong directions for easing onto it, and I had double what I should have had in my system. Thankfully the cop was very understanding and I never drove while taking that stuff again. I also gained a log of weight. I had just worked my butt off, litterally, 20 lbs., and it all came back in a few months. I'm taking Savella for my fibro now, and it works better. Only thing is my doctor had to fight tooth and nail to get it approved by my insurance. I've been on it for a couple years now. When I first started on it, my local Walgreens had to order it special because it was so new they didn't even stock it yet. It is also an anti-depressant, so I can kill two birds with one stone.

Howdy Sweet. I gained just over 45lbs in a number of months. I attribute that to being less active due to surgery, and the Lyrica. It is slowly coming off now. As I stated in my prior post in this thread, the weight is an "okay" side effect considering I was in so much pain I just could not function.

Keep in mind, not ALL gain weight on this medication.... Hope that helps. *HUGZ*

I've been on Lyrica for 4 years. I started out at 75mg 3 times a day for peripheral neuralgia and it worked great!

When I was diagnosed with fibro, the rheumy increased it to 150mg twice a day. He also prescribed a mild diuretic. He said weight gain was due to water weight. He didn't tell me that I would develop mad cravings for sweets with the increase!

I couldn't function without the Lyrica.

my doc did tell me about the sweet cravings, which I already have! Also, she said edema and fatigue, if my ins doesnt cover it, i dont know what I'll do.

i've been taking lyrica for over a year and it helps with joint, mucle and nerve pain for me. it takes the edge off my headaches too. it works a little better than its cousin gabapentin but has more side effects.

I have been taking Lyrica since June and have found it to be a big help. First month I was a little clumsey and and slept a lot, but now don't notice any bad side effects. I stopped taking it for two weeks to see if it made a difference and i was so lethargic, cranky, achey and stabby pain for the two weeks I knew it really was helping me. I have fibro and I think the lyrica helps me have some energy. As for weight gain..... sweet cravings have been an issue, so far 15 pounds, but I was down to 98 pounds earlier this year, so a few more haven't really hurt.
