I have spent the last few months fighting to get pain back under control - with little hope of it actually working. I have been switched to morphine ER, but I am not able to get off the hydrocodone and also move. I am ok if all I am doing is sitting at my computer, but the second I get up and try to do anything, like dishes, it falls completely short. I see my doc not this Tuesday but next to talk about it. I am not holding out any hope. I don't think I have any left.
The only positive thing is that my head seems to have cleared, for the first time in forever. I can look around at what I used to do and know that I can't do it anymore. It took five days for me to make a big chicken dinner. Granted that we will be eating on the leftovers for about a week, but it kicked my ass to the point that I won't be moving all day today.
Tomorrow I am demanding to see my horse. He is my favorite pet. Unfortunately, he is feeling less than great. We don't know why he is sore in his front feet. My friend has offered for me to ride her horse. I used to train horses for a living when I was a teen and a 20 something in college. Up until 10 years ago I would get rescue horses and retrain them before re-homing them to live a long happy life. I did this right up until one of them crushed my spine.
My daughter has flat refused that situation. The last time the offered horse was ridden he was a butt and bucked my daughter. She is not about to have me ride him until she is sure he is not going to repeat the bucking episode. I get to ride her horse tomorrow, leading my horse so he does not feel left out.
Just one more area I have lost complete independence. I know she is right. I have no business being on a horse who might buck. I just used to be the dumb kid who would ride any horse. I can be happy that my daughter has kept my love of horses. I can enjoy watching her ride. I can have fun on her horse, who we know will do nothing bad (at least as long as no one dressed as a ship sneaks up behind her...).
It is just one more thing I have lost to pain.

And the rain make it bad because 1. People forget how to drive in it and 2. 285 was built without a drainage system so it's hydroplane central especially with all of the oil & stuff from the cars pooling up when it's dry.
BTW, I grew up in Toledo so have made that trip up 75 more times than I can count. Used to be able to do it without stopping but now I need an overnight motel stay. The joys of chronic pain!
