Interesting new Service from my BCBS Ins.

I have BCBSNC which I purchased from the Government Marketplace and have never had a problem with it. It's a Silver level PPO and is a great policy with $5/$10 co-pays.

I got a letter from them the other day and they offered to send an NP out to the house to go over all my medications and Medical Illnesses so that I understood them and to make sure I was seeing the right Dr.'s etc.

I thought it was a very generous new plan of theirs to do this. Its a free service and I can see it helping many people alot.

I personally just giggled at the Lady on the phone and explained that I had multiple illnesses/diseases and had a main Dr. that I saw monthly and 4 - 5 Specialists that I saw every 2 - 3 months, and I'd taken all of my 19 meds for the last 7+ years, so there really wasn't much that a Nurse Practitioner could come out and teach me about my health. But I thanked them for the thought and the program that will help many.

So not all Government Market Place Insurance Policies are bad and evil!!

Gotta check their motivation because it could be aimed at reducing services. But thats said w skeptical tongue in cheek too!

Not a new service. I've been on medicare advantage since 2009 after I had cancer. I have been getting that phone call relentlessly. I too have BCBS. I too tell them the same thing. I have numerous specialists, and I'm at the doctor's at least once a month. They are not going to tell me anything I don't already know.
But I do think it would help those who are on medication but don't see the doctor very often. Or those who don't ask questions about their medications.

I agree with Bill. Sounds more like they see a problem and want to make sure it's corrected and closely monitored going forward.

I agree with them seeing a problem and I wonder if that problem might have something to do with your pain meds. I'm not saying there is a problem, what I'm saying is that insurance companies are under pressure to reduce the amount of opiates prescribed for chronic pain. Hopefully they will leave you alone.

This is a service they offer to everyone, so it has nothing to do with her pain meds. It's just a service they provide to all they insure.

LOL..okay for the skeptics. Y'all all know that I have more medical issues than JOB, and mental issues for 27+years. I take 20 meds, pills and injections at this point, that list bounces between 19 and 21 depending on the season. I see 2 Dr.'s every month, and 4 more every 2-3 months. I have to have blood tests montly, ultrasounds every 4 months, MRI's at least twice a year and various other nerve tests, etc. I'm in the ER at least once a month.

I've never had a claim questioned, a medication rejected or not approved. Never had a Dr. Bill not paid, or had to pay over the $5 or $10 co-pay. And right now I pay 0 for all prescriptions because I've reached my out of pocket which was only $1000.00.

I've had absolutely zero problems with my health insurance company for the last 2 years.

There actually can be good Insurance Companies and Good Dr.s and Good programs.

and no I'm not super-rich, nor do I pay a huge premium for my policy, it's a whopping $115.00 per month.
