Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
That sounds awesome. For two summers I was in a wonderful remission and was symptom free of my MS. So I volunteered as a Back Country Ranger with the Olympic National Park. It was an incredible experience and one of the highlights if my life. But by the third summer I was in a wheelchair. The Park Service built a special ramp just for me so I could continue volunteering in the same area with the same folks. Not in the back country of course, but I helped out at the little Ranger Station. And they even equipped the barracks so I could still stay with the crew. I felt really blessed.
I hope that your adventure in your wheelchair is just as memorable and meaningful. Life does not have to stop be aide you are in a wheelchair. You just adapt and go. My chair has special wheels for different enviornments too. I have a pair of indoor only wheels that stay clean. Then I have big balloon tires for the beach. I have nubby tires for trails. And then just regular wheels. They pop on and off like bike tires. I know that many people really get into wheelchair sports. It can be pretty rugged. They have some really cool tricked out wheelchairs for the various sports. Mine is a really cool blue color. I have not needed to use it recently so it is gathering dust. But knowing my body I will have use of it again at some point.
I really hope you get to do your trip to Italy. It would be Awesome! Hugs, Cathy
