Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Some people take herbal remedies such as melatonin and valerian root, but I have very bad reactions to them... wild dreams, confusion etc.
I know it is hard having to take care of your daughter when you are in pain.
The emotional part of it can cause pain too.
I hope you can get some help sleeping and also to get your old life back.
melatonin did nothing for me or my mom worked great the 1st few nights than nothing also dosing is off they have way more that you need in the dose, according to the dr.OZ show you need 1mg I buy the lowest I can and cut them in half,
night quil but really its due to fact that its 10% alcohol so if your on meds might not want to do that one
Ambien and the like at the higher dose I would eat in my sleep and washed my hair with lotion and called my mom in sleep drunk all while in the hospital and the staff didn't notice living alone I refuse to take it
best of luck and I hope you get some sleep
and I hope you get a answer about your daughter and get her the treatment she needs I'll be thinking about both of you
hugs

I take amitriptylin once a day, and have for years for chronic pain. When I was still working, I found that if I took it at bedtime I was groggy until 10 or 11. If I took it before 4 PM when I had to work the next day, I could stay awake in the morning. Hope this helps.
Gentle hugs.
My rotten sister convinced my dad to sell everything because she was gonna take care of him. HA!
She was counting on the stats of 50+ year marrieds dying within a year of each other. So she'd have all his money cause he was in her house with no property to sell so the exec of the will would have to waste $$$ to take it to probate. By then she'd have spent his $$ anyway. This is a woman who forged mom's name the day she died to pay for christmas presents.
Who goes christmas shopping the day your mother dies?
So when she tossed him out, he came to live with me.
Great, this nasty man refuses to believe in Celiac. So for a year, he was slowly killing me by cross contaminateing me with gluten.
He got angry when I asked him to stop and now just stays in the basement coming up once or twice a month to try and guilt me into letting him kill me some more.
RIGHT!
Hubby was "downsized" nice way of saying laid off. The corporate world is realy nasty.
Now we have no money and two kids in college and no job and the idiots at the food bank want a letter from the doctor to PROVE I have celiac to get two days worth of food.
A doctor visit costs $160, plus $50 for a letter.
Two days of food for $210 is pretty darn expensive. And that is no meat or milk or cheese. Just canned foods.
What is wrong with this world.
SOrry, I want my life back too!
Why do we keep paying for the crimes and stuipid mistakes of others?
Why am I still paying to prove that I am not a criminal each time I go to the PM?
I don't get it at all.
Sunny, how does you pm clinic treat you? Im lucky there, my pain doc is so nice.
I'm sorry you are dealing with this on top of your pain. I have had many members of My family with drug addiction over the years. Thank God, they were able to get the help they needed through rehabs, the N.A., C.A. & A.A. Programs and are currently still active in those programs, which really has saved their lives. I know how difficult it is to live and love an addict. May God Bless both of you through this journey.
I sleep lousy as well but haven't wanted to take sleeping meds because of the grogginess a lot of them leave us with.
I know there are quite a few people here who could probably give you better information than I can.
Hope your pain eases, that your able to get some rest, and I hope&.pray things with your daughter improve.
Hugs,
Mary Ellen
I will certainly keep you in my prayers as well as the situation with your daughter. Also I will pray for pain relief to come your way:). I will pray things improve for you very soon; hang in there!
Prayers going out to you.
First,it's nice to meet you. I've had problems sleeping for years. I took Ambien for a long time and it worked well, until it stopped working- lol.
Then I started taking Valarian Root and melatonin and that worked great. Just be careful taking melatonin, especially if you have an autoimmune disorder. I have lupus, but it doesn't cause me to flair.
There are mild sleep meds out there- like Lunesta. You may want to try that before starrting something stronger.
Right now I take 150mg of trazodone and along with the valarian root
and melatonin, I sleep like a rock.
And don't forget the basic rules of sleep hygiene- TV,Radio,iPod, computer off. A room that is on the cool side and dark- get black out curtains if you can. No caffeine at night (including chocolate, soda, coffee or tea. Comfortable pillows. I also find my electric blanket helps really well because we keep the heat set low in our home. The warmth helps my fibro and restless legs syndrome.
I hope this helps. I know how insomnia really sucks and only adds to our pain.
Sandy
I don't like my PM. He may mean well. But I see a different PA every time, they charge me "specialist" fee nealry twice as much, spend less that 5 minutes with me, walk in with scripts ready to go and take BP and pulse and send me on the way.
And that is CARE? At specalists rates?
I really hope Karma goes round to all the addicts who created this situation for the rest of us.
