Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I truly thought I had a broken foot for 3mos until I was tested and diagnosed with RSD truly believing I would return to work within weeks as my job was selling vehicles and I was on my feet most of the day up to 6 days a week.
You need to know that getting the care you need & to know that you have to take care of you is the more important than any job. It does come to the realization of acceptance of what is best for you & I know you can get there in time & what you are feeling now is normal.
Best wishes,
Rhonda
I sure can relate to the guilt and worry that you are describing. I don't have any easy answers. But you certainly sound like a very conscientous young woman who wants to work! The hardest thing to do sometimes is accept your current limitations.
I am sending good thoughts your way. Also, if your doc says you can take more time off, you must be suffering enough, without adding "beating yourself up" to your list as well!
Best wishes. Hang in there! -Kristi :)
ps have you ever considered temporary use of an anti-anxiety med? It sure has helped me at times when I have been very nervous and overwhelmed. Just a thought...
I am so sorry that you are going through this. This is way too much to handle at any age...especially so young but, you have been handling it and that only goes to speak to your strength.
I do not know all the intracacies of your condition and I can only imagine the pain you go through. I don't know how controlled your pain is and I think that might be worth some time investigating into long acting and short acting pain relievers. Don't be afraid of them.
I would also advice counseling. You are very young and your life energies cannot be held to the "normals" standards. If you constantly fight to make your life normal....you will most always fail to reach your own goals.
You have a condition which requires acceptance, medications, medical intervention and adjustments. Do yourself a huge favor---LOVE YOUR SELF! Allow yourself the opportunity to say "I am sorry, I can't be there today" or "I will be at your party, but I can only stay an hour or two". Also, if your pain is unpredicatable...then, how can you hold yourself accountable to your "failures"? If you cannot predict the issue, you cannot prevent it from interfering with your life.
BIG SUPPORTIVE and SOFT hugs to you.
One more thing, I believe (and so does my PM dr) that everybody dealing with CP can benefit from an anti anxiety/anti depressant medication. It does help. A lot.
