Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Have to be careful with all herbs. Be sure not to mix with some meds.
These posts would be more beneficial with the source of the information. Anyone can post anything on the internet with or without any scientific evidence or even research.
One needs to be extremely careful before trying to self medicate with anything.
I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and I take very expensive and dangerous chemo drugs, or I am bed ridden and in agony. The agony comes from the joints being deformed due to inflammation.
None of these herbal cures do anything for me, and I wish they would change the name of Rheumatoid Arthritis to Systematic Rheumatoid Disease, so people would understand that chemo drugs are what keep the inflammation under control, which not only affects joints, but the brain, the heart and the lungs. Yes, RA can kill you.
If you are talking about Osteoarthritis, then you are talking about a mechanism which is found in all vertebrates. From birds and lizards to humans. Once you damage a joint, then the OA moves in and creates further damage. It is still serious, and a major cause of joint replacement surgery. Almost 98% of all people have osteoarthritis by the time they reach 80. So it is a natural effect of living and having damaged joints. It will not be cured or helped by herbal cures.
I have RA damage in over 100 joints, and OA secondary to the RA in all of those joints. Herbs are simply not going to cut it for my diseases, and I personally don't know of anyone who would get any relief out of these herbal folk cures.
Please find out about what you are talking about, before you post such ridiculous nonsense. Like start with the kind of arthritis you are talking about, and cite some medical evidence or even some anecdotal evidence for any of this nonsense working. I eat garlic every day, I also eat bananas and coconut milk and oil daily. Potatoes are the nightshade family and contraindicated for many with RA, but doesn't affect me one way or the other. I eat alfalfa sprouts through the winter. I think they are a good way to add healthy greens to the diet, but they don't help any more than lime juice.
I guess I should just leave this group. And rum soaked raisins? Do you really think that could get me out of a severe bone raking RA flare? Sorry for dropping in.
We've encouraged Tabby to try to be helpful, though, and I think she was doing this with good intentions. Obviously, these "cures" are not really cures although with some people who don't have problems as severe as your's a change of diet might be helpful. Please excuse my ignorance, though, because I honestly don't know much about arthritis at all.
I took the rum soaked raisins as a joke. Maybe I wasn't supposed to?
Sadly so is the OP.
Frankly, there is NO CURE for arthritis!!!!!!!!!
The things mentioned here are purely antidotal. .
The "article" comes from a site that is totally anonymous. Just like DS, the site is a place where anyone can post anything they want. No one bothers to verify anything that is posted. The authors don't even put down names. So there is no way it can be anything but a joke.
You can go here to see it :

No one honestly in pain would offer such useless poorly researched information to desperatly needy people. It is like handing an empty dish to a starving homeless person.
She also posted this in College Stress:
http://www.dailystrength.org/c/College_Stress/forum/13371194-finished-my-slideshow
She wrote a college level paper titled "the power of Drug addiction.
Is she posting all the "articles" to eventually show us that we are addicts if we don't use these natural "cures" that she had "found" to prove that we just need to put forth effort to CURE?
When I asked for the source so I could verify for myself if this article was worth reading, no reponse.
When people asked for truth to put away the lies, she threatens to kill herself.
it is difficult to understand her reasons for posting nothing but articles about how we can CURE ourselves by just EATING right and using a herbs. I don't find them helpful at all.
without the source, they border on dangerous posts.
Perhaps she posted some lies in other groups and those people are fed up with her.
Sorry, but I remain confused and suspicious. There is something wrong here.
