Hi JC!! Hope you have a good low pain day!

It is hard to stay positive with chronic pain, but when I started taking care of a friend with stage 4 cancer, i can't stop
It from being in my face :" you are not dying, just miserable.
Take what you can get from this life the way you are "

I am gr8 I made espresso this morning with frothy milk too...is that not cappicino???

anyway today is St. Patrick's Day so Erin Go Braugh to our Irish friends (it says I spelled braugh wrong)....

I am honorary Irish because Mom and Dad eloped on St. Patricks Day....when the parents found out they made them have 2nd wedding in church...LOL I became honorary Irish due to their elopement. LOL

I have 1:30pm appointment with the PM Doc...I will see the actual PM Doctor because he did that needle nerve block about month ago and now he wants to know if I want ablation. I do not need it. Anyway I want him to remove the gabapentin from my medications but they say do not abruptly stop this medication, so I need instruction on how to remove it from daily meds. Wish me luck. I will also tell him that I do not want the ablation....I believe this will end my relationship with the PM office after getting off gaba....which cannot be a bad thing because not needing pain meds is a good thing....I must bring my meds along with that they count and I am sort of assuming they will destroy for me safely as I surely do not need a bunch of narcotics in my house as I am an addictive alcoholic type of person and in heartbeat could choose to self medicate pain that these pills are not scripted for....so hope they take them away from me....if not I will ask them to simple dispose of them...I am not sure if I need to get a few more gaba pills as I come off them I might run out before they stop them entirely but I can get them at CVS in smaller amount to just make it to the end of their instructions to end this medication.

I hear ya, Aronia. It's a great gift you're giving to your friend to be helping him through this time.
Since Jaimie's stroke ( my daughter).. and her ( understandably) refusing another reccomended craniotomy for an aneurism..
I have had to strain to maintain a positive attitude. Then, I remember her neurosurgeon saying before and after her AVM and craniotomy that her stroke was a life ending event. That makes every moment something to be grateful for. But, yes.. it's hard to feel grateful when in a lot of pain.

MrBill.. Congrats on successful surgery and recovery. AND.. getting off the meds in a timely manner. ( do follow their taoering instructions for the gabapentin.. it can mess with your mood, among other things)
If your PM follows " the book".. they won't take your leftover meds to dispise of, but, likely reccomend you drop them at the cop shop.

I read in the literature from PM Office they will safely destroy meds for those that change or go off a medication....maybe they will have me dispose of them at the police station but probably not in my humble opinion...MHO!!!

Or if they will let me I could donate them to Doctors without Boarders?

Good morning. It's been endless rain since Sunday, which means an endless migraine since sunday. I haven't been able to think. My cognitive ability is shit right now. Yeah, I can't think right now. Hope everyone else is feel relatively good today.

The changes in barometric pressure have been kicking quite a few as*#s lately.. I'm sure it's the worst with migraine. I hope relief is not far away for you.

Bill, you can crush up your meds and mix them in a bunch of ground up coffee beans. That is how they recommend disposing of your pills You can do that if your doctor refuses to dispose of them for you. Coffee grounds pretty much make trying to use them after being crushed hard to do. That's how I'm going to do it if I am ever taken off of my medications. Flushing them is not advised because they will leech into the water supply. Good luck with your PM visit. Your story should be posted on the DEA/FDA website of how normal pain patients behave. Even with your addictive personality, you were able o self-regulate your intake of pain medication, taper off of them all on your own, and discontinue use/destroy them once your pain has subsided. You make all of us look god in here. Normal pain patients do not continue to use their medication after their pain is gone. And they most definitely do not go to the streets for heroin when their doctor forces them off because they are no longer in pain. I'm going to tout your story everywhere I go! Hugs!

why would I mix my pain meds crushed up with coffee? I can get rid of them at Police station if not at the pain clinic....it just doesn't matter how I get rid of them but I do not want temptation in my house now...I have them in car and am at Mom's now to have sis shave my head for my summer haircut....then I will eat lunch with these two lovely ladies and go to PM office....I will hand over the meds and say destroy these...but I found I have plenty of gaba to taper off with so I just need to understand what I need to do....they certainly will destroy my meds which is Morphine and Hydrocodin

I'll be interested to see what your PM does about the meds. Mine said they were not allowed to take them ( makes sense.. they'd be free floating for someone to abuse. )
My pharmacy once called me to say they had found an oxycodone where they had counted mine out ( shortly after my husband had left).. and that he'd have to come get it. I asked them if they couldn't just get rid of it ( work day.. didn't want him to have to go back out of his way). They said no way. They would've had to file a report.......
They don't play about some of these meds being controlled.

My Daughter and I got up at 6:00 this morning to be first in line at the feed store because today the Blue Wyandotte breed of chicks came in and they always sell out right away. We now have 5 chicks in a box in the kitchen under a heat lamp. So cute! In a month I will want them OUT! But for now they are good entertainment for high pain days. This breed lays 200+ brown eggs per year and are super docile. Yesterday we discovered 2 baby cottontails in the hay shed so it seems that spring is here.

Happy to have home entertainment today because yesterday rode a crowhoppy mare for client and now need a down day with heat/ice.

now back in waiting for the doctor....since I had the needle deadening of nerves they have me in the surgical area....I am signing off now to answer their questions and see the doctor...more later when I get back to Mom's house...

Yvette I am feeling the migraine today. Got the ice pack x-large wrapped around the neck. Storm system on the way is what it is saying. We will see. Did you get started on House of Cards?

Bill proud of you. Like Jeremy said you are a poster child. Chronic pain patients are. They take their meds as prescribed. Many take a holiday from meds once in awhile. So I have to agree though with JC and whoever else said Police Station for unused meds. When I entered PM the doctor dc'ed one script and he told me to take it to the police station to dispose of it. Shame on them for flushing. I do understand your reasoning for not wanting them in your home or anywhere near you. Commending you for that.
