Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I remember having the first baby on both our sides of the family, and of our friends too. No one could understand why we had to leave early or needed to have things scheduled...except my mom. Once they started having babies then they understood.
My hubby is ALWAYS asleep before me. I am amazed at how fast he can fall asleep! So frustrating!
And yes...as always...I overdid it. Big time! For the first time ever I couldn't get everything done. Several things were missed that I just can't get too. But, I know it will still be a great Christmas!
Hope you get to sleep soon!!

I think women generally want plans and schedules were men are ok to just wing it.
Sorry you are having some hard nights, wish tonight is better if not you can stay up and talk to Santa:)
Jen,
My advice for you is to just do what's good for you and your family. I mean your son and husband and you, not the extended family. Your MIL had young kids too at some point! She should know better. My MIL was a bitch on wheels but she did say one thing true: when she and my FIL started having kids, Christmas started to be at THEIR house. No more traipsing to other relatives houses. If they wanted to see them, they came to their house. The end of stress. You have to stand your ground and face wrath, but in the end it will be the best thing you ever did. I'm not saying you shouldn't go and see relatives over the holidays, but really, Christmas should be for YOUR family, not your in-laws and everyone else who comes down the block.
When Conor was little, we went to my in-laws for Christmas Eve, went to church with them (it was our church too) and had dinner with them afterwards. We were home by 10pm at the latest. Then we spent Christmas Day in our home, just the 3 of us. We still do this now. I can't imagine the stress of going to someone else's house on Christmas Day. It just wouldn't work for me.
If you feel you must be at the in-laws for Christmas, just don't feel guilty about leaving early and remind your MIL that her kids were young once too and she must remember what that was like. MIL's memories are so selective when it comes to their kids. Of course, they were walking and talking at 8 months and never got into a lick of trouble. LOL- if only that was true!
Good luck, Jen. I hope you can enjoy your holiday. Your son will be 14 before you know it. Savor these moments because they are just that- moments. And you can never get them back.
Sandy
I'm sorry for your troubles..but..
I am still cracking up laughing.
My husband can sit/lay down and be asleep before he even closes his eyes, it seems. And, yes...as ridiculous as it is...when I've been sleepless and in pain too long..I will resent it when he can sleep..:-) :-) even while knowing how unreasonable it is !
And...god forbid he should say anything about me being crabby when I'm tired after he's had THE NERVE to be sleeping..:-) :-)
Just keep telling yourself it's only for a couple of days. ( I KNOW..that can seem an eternity with the combination of pain and not sleeping)
Ummm...Merry Christmas..:-) :-)
hugs

I just realized that he does this every year. Waits till Christmas Eve to listen to questions. Then there is a mad scramble to buy some new thechnology or other. I open it, he learns to use it and it dissapears into his "stuff" because it was really a play toy that he wanted for himself.
That is what you are supposed to do (according to MIL) buy something that you would want for yourself.
I really hate this holiday season.
I'd love to have a new bird feeder and a pole with multiple hangers so I can clean and fill all of them in one spot.
I talked with someone (in person) who just pointed out that there are "real" problems in this world and I am being totally selfish.
Sorry, guess this is off topic.
