I am sorry that you are experiencing nausea on Methadone. This is a side effect of the medication that does not usuall warrant removal of the pain medication.
I was on methadone 2.5 mg x 2 per day for a total of 5 mg per day. This is a farily low dose, however; my understanding is the maximum dose on this medication is 40 mg.
I really liked how it helped my pain, however; I developed swelling in my hands and feet and it made is INCREDIBLY tired. I was literally falling asleep mid conversation at work, it was horrid.
I was sad to go off of it but, I have since been placed on morphine sulfate and that is working well. Here is a website to read some information on methadone. I hope you find something that works for you. HUGS to you!

Actually methadone works on nerve pain, so I am a little surprise that your pain got worse with methadone. Not everyone can take certain medications, so if this med is still causing you nausea after two weeks, is time to ask the Doc for a change. Take care, and I hope that you get well soon.
Hugs,
Tipper, the methadone does help cover up my nerve pain. The reason my nerve pain became worse is because I have been needing to sit for long periods of time, and sitting makes it worse. So, I need a higher dose to help cover up my more intense nerve pain.
