Fentanyl vs. Morphine for pain

Has anyone had experience with this treatment? I am currently taking 30 mg of morphine sulfate twice daily and will increase to three times daily but my doctor said I should consider fentanyl. Right now I take quite a bit of oxycodone daily but it doesn't seem to be working right now. I don't know what to do? I just want some relief which seems impossible! Are there many side effects? How are they?

I don't know about your case but if the doctor had given me the choice I would try the fentynl first. I want morphine when I am ready to die. I take fentynl and if you get your dosage right it really works good.

Fentanyl is 80x stronger than morphine according to the information i have read on it online. It is made for people who have been on very strong opiads for a long time and they arent working as well. I use it. It works amazing for me most of the time. I see my dr monday and i am going to tell him that it doesnt last a full 3 days for me and for some reason my neck still hurts. He also put me on lyrica, i guess thats still working into my system.
Oh, you asked about the fentanyl lol sorry, it works great. You dont have to worry about taking all the pills. You just change yoru patch every so often.
It is worth a try. It is definetly stronger then morphone.

I have taken both and like both,it is really something that is individual. Also with Fentanyl you have no control and it takes time to get into your system. With Morphine it works when you take it pretty much right away. I think you are doing the right thing by asking other people to share thier experiences. You may also want to research both meds and how they work and how long they stay in your system. Good luck to you, I am sure it will all work out for you. Oh, and always remember that if you try fentanyl and it doesnt work you can always get it switched to the other med. Good luck to you and I hope you get some quality relief real soon. I was on the patches for five months. 150 MG every three days. I really wanted them to work because I wouldn't have to remember my pills every four hours. For me they didn't work. It might have been that my system didn't absorb them well. But, I became a veggie, I developed a rash on my skin from them and I had cold sweats all the time. They also really messed with my mind. The withdrawal from them was very bad. Since going back on percocet, codeine sulfate and oxycontin my pain is under control and I have my life back. Everyone is different, so if you wish to try the patch and have any more questions let me know, hugs binet
