I've been having the damndest time with patches for quite a while.
Very fortunately..my Dr has mine to be changed at two days rather than three..
Because I need extras for the..not infrequent...times they come off.

Mylar is the brand my Dr just suggested I get. :-) :-) go figure.

Anyway..so..my point was to ask you if yours are prescribed at three days..
And if your Dr might change it?

Do you find that if you have a " bad" one in a box...it's likely the others will be problematic, too?

They never seemed to stay on my daughter. We would use the most non-allergic tapes available to put over the patch while she wore them.

We rotated through all the different places the suggested. Had the same problem everywhere. Some people's skin just do not like to let sticky stuff stay on :(

Maybe ask your doctor for more options.

I wonder if you could use a non adhesive wrap to gently cover it? I think of it as vet-wrap but they also make it for humans. It's almost like crepe paper (am I dating myself??) and it sticks to itself. One wrap around your arm would keep the edges from peeling up. But I don't know if that is OK to do over the patch...

And that't not a bad idea.
You probably shouldn't cover the whole patch ( to not overheat)...
But it would likely work just wrapping the sides.
I have a problem with a lot of the adhesive stuff..

The wrap is a great idea. Yes they still have that. I am allergic to adhesive tape and that is what I use.

I think the vet wrap is also much cheaper. Look in Tractor Supply or Agway or any live stock type store. I know we get it in the horse section and they have lots of pretty colors and fun patterns.

Alcohol rub helps kid of ruff up the area,lol I want to also put a warning out there do not use a heating pad with e patch you can over dose

I get a first aid, paper tape, from the chemist and put it on all sides of the patch and that usually stops them from coming off. My patches are only put on for 12 hrs at a time, usually of a night, so not sure if this would work having one on for days. Hope you find something that helps.

When I had to use them I was told I could cover it with a tegrederm bandage. Its totally clear and it breathes so it csn be used iver the patches. They're very expensive in the stores like $8:00 for 5, but if your dr writes a prescription, ins. Would cover them.

I'm allergic to all adhesives so anytime I get cut I have to use them. They come waterproof so they would stay on and they have ones you can leave on for a few day. They use similar ones in the hhospital over the IV ports.

They helped me out when I needed them and they come in different sizes. They're very sticky so don't take off all the edges until your ready to put on right away.

Have you ever used Tegaderms, which are clear bandage like covers that go over your patch? They help them stay on. Keeping the patch on and in contact with your skin completely is important as the medication is distributed evenly that way. Some Pharma Corps will give you Tegaderms free, but you can get them at any Pharmacy.

I use Teva brand, used to be Ratio -and they stick like a son of a bitch. Maybe it's just the kind you get in Canada but they stick really well.

When I wore the patch I had to wear it on my upper arm. Everywhere else it fell off. Well still had issues on my arm. I need medical tape to just go over the edges of each side. Get medical tape that doesn't give you a rash. Just don't vover it all in tape or those big water proof bandages. These will make the meds go in too fast and can be dangerous. I believe my mother couldn't only have paper tape and their are plenty of choices. I would take bath's so my arm didn't get in the water. on my arm. I always put the patch of my non dominant arm. If you only have a shower the old bread bad or I guess a good sized plastic beg would work but be careful not to gt water on your patch. The bread bag turned inside out and duck tape is perfect. if you get it wet you have to put a new one on. If you can't get the goo from your tape you use to to keep your patch up.People gave me all of the advice of using household chemical's. Also all sort of natural stuff, I still couldn't get the goop the tape left behind. My doctor told me they sell boxes especially for this at surgical supply stores that sell individual "wipes" and you could go right in and get them with no script. I will say they were bit pricey for my low budget but they where like nothing else, they worked fast. Ironically there are called adhesive remover. Hope this helps.

ayla, when I was on Fentanyl, I found that Xtra large waterproof Band-Aids worked great. I hope you find something that works!

I've been using the Mylan patches forever, 10 years or so... I have finally found a way to keep the little buggers on. I but the lens cleaners at CVS, (I'm sure they are all pretty similar. I think they are cheaper than the alcohol wipes and I can also use them to clean my glasses and phone!) and clean the area where I put the patch just before I apply it. I wear them just in front of my hip above my belt line and alternate sides and they still stick. I tried everywhere else and also tried Bioclusives. Those things burned me like acid! I think I made it through two or three before I tossed them.
I haven't had any problem with patched falling off since I started with the wipes.
A question: I have had issues over the past couple of boxes of patches with them running out 8 to 12 hours early. I assure you that having had CP for 35 years I know what it feels like when the pain suddenly returns full force combined with withdrawals. (Anyone here know what I'm talking about? I thought so!)
anyways, a month or so back, (just before I started realizing that the patches were going off early) there was a great post by someone regarding the efficacy of the generics. Can anyone point me to that?

The safe and more economical alternative to the Bioclusive overlay dressings are skin adhesives. Hypoallergenic; a couple examples, under $ 20. These can be purchased online - not only sites selling medical supplies, they may be purchased at Amazon and diabetes-related websites, as well.

(1) Torbot Skin Tac-H Liquid Adhesive (latex free - about $ 8 (4 oz.); may also be found on websites catering to individuals with diabetes.
(2) Osto-bond - between $ 10 - $ 20 (contains latex).
