In reading comments from pain patients all over the place, some do sound a bit like they "like" thier opiates a bit too much. Not meaning to offend, just hoping to have good quality, convincing responses that may change things for us.

A pharmacy cannot request a "Blood Test" before they'll fill a RX. They don't have anyone on staff that can legally draw blood. They don't have the Legal Right to make that request or force your Dr. to do it. The FDA and CDC would have to make that a Law in order for it to happen Federally or each State's Government would have to make it Law.
Your Pain Dr. is the one who puts you on a Contract and monitors your labs with a Urine Test or Blood Test (rarely) to tell if your taking your meds as directed, or not. If your Dr. actually pulled you aside and told you that, he's lying to you flat out, you might want to ask him why?
Like you I have degenerative scoliosis and all the lovely things that come with it, neuropathy, arthritis, stenosis, you know the drill. I have a friend who just had a rod put in her back at 45! I couldn't believe she did it but she seems to be doing pretty good now. What are you doing for spine care if you don't mind me asking?
