Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
1. I would go for a long walk in the brisk air. I cannot walk now without major pain.
2. I would jump into the ocean (warmer days) and frolic for an hour or so and get out of the ocean unassisted.
3. I would thank God!
4. I would pack up and move out of this tiny, messy apt.
5. I'd love to spend 3 days witha rescue dog.
6. Dancing!
7. Return all the help I receive.
8. I'd enjoy the days of being non-medicated. Fully alive!
9. I'd throw a major bash with all my friends, especially all cp friends.
10. I'd make sure that all cpers got the same reprieve.
Just a start. Thanks for the chance to dream a little.

Every single thing you choose is simple. Things we should all enjoy on a daily basis. I love this group because it's those things that everyone takes for granted that we miss so much.
I would sleep through the night without waking up once.
I would have one day without crying over my losses.
I would go back to work.
I would run because that's a no no now.
I would go to a theme park with my kids all day long, 12 hours.
Run through the park.
Roller skating with kids
Sleep normally
Oh wouldn't it be nice......

2. Take my kids for the longest walk ever
3. Really, really, really sleep well
4. Get a massage (because of my nerves I can't stand to have my back touched at all)
5. Fly to San Antonio and walk the streets all day with my wife, just like we did on our anniversary trip 2 months before my injury
6. Clean my house from top to bottom (ok, I'd like to think I'd do this, but it probably wouldn't make it into the schedule, LOL)
Hug...jc..
I would be normal.
What strikes me is that none of these dreams are unattainable. There is no reason you can't take a walk, just not as long as you might like. No reason you can't go to the mountains, just drive instead of hike. No reason you can't go to Vegas, just think safe sex :) No reason we can't do anything we want, just might need to make some changes to make it fun.
So instead of dreaming maybe we should be planning. Brainstorming ways to do what we want to do with the limitations that we have now.
If i had three pain free days I would take my daughter to a horse show, be her groom, do everything she needs and wants. But it's not a dream. She is doing several shows this year and I will be there to do what I can. But I already have other people to help with things I can't do any more. I'll also make sure that I have things like the lidoderm patch to get me through the tough spots. And I'll plan ahead to make sure the work load is as small as possible.
That's my dream
I would go shopping downtown saturday market. Strolling through all the outdoor shops and little bookstores, stopping for lunch and coffee at a bistro. I would hop on the trolly and stroll the boardwalk. Then, I would buy a new outfit and HIGH HEELS!
I would spend the first night dancing at a few clubs in my pretty heels and new outfit!
Day 2:
I would get up early and take my kids to the amusement park, walking around and riding the rides. We would get elephant ears and spend the day enjoying eachother, laughing --the whole time I would be walking, walking, walking. I would ride the rides like the zipper and scrambler.
After the day, we would go to a nice dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant, then-we would pack up and head to the beach for the night in Newport. We would stay at a nice beach front hotel.
Day 3:
We would get up early in the am and go to a nice beach front breakfast. We would take a long walk along the coast letting our feet get washed in waves and sand. We would hunt seashells through tidal pools and go for a mid morning hike.
We would do some shopping at the outlet malls and then go to the aquarium. We would walk through all the exhibits slowly and enjoying every minute.
Day 4: I turn back into a pumpkin!
It was migraine hell. Everyone else had a great time and I hid in the dark corner with my limitations and a great deal of suffering.
My dream is every bit unattainable at this time.
