Not the same..I feel Kim a sad
Sorry folks..
KINDA sad
( and frustrated now, too....:-) :-) :-)
I think I am attached to my doc too now I that I think of it. :)
Yes, I have an attachment to my GP. He was the first doctor I had when we moved down here 14 years ago. He has always been there for me, gotten my referrals, battled with insurance for me, has cried with me and calls me his "girlfriend."
He just received the Chief of Staff position at our local hospital so although his practice will remain open, he won't be seeing many patients because of his new responsibilities. I am sad. It's not that I don't like his PA's and the other docs, he just is MY doctor.
So, you are not alone Jan. We can suffer together. Have a great day.
Laura
I was hoping it's not just me..:-) :-)

I have had a *crush* on my oral surgeon. He always could whip an IV into my hand, like nobody's business, and get me sedated....plus he's easy on the eyes.
I have never told a soul (til now) that I was very attached to my OB/GYN back when I had my daughters. I know...awkward. I don't know why I felt that way about him, but I suppose because he is the one who brought my children safely into the world and took such good care of me through my pre-eclampsia issues.
You truly are lucky to have such wonderful docs, Jan. I'm happy to say that I adore my GP...very nice, compassionate woman. And she just referred me to a rheumy, which is sceduled for next month. This will be my first rheum experience, so I am very hopeful. He's already my hubby's rheum, so I know he is a keeper.
I'm so sorry about your hands flaring. I can so relate. Take care and good luck with your new rheumy, too!
Hugs,
Lori
i had a crush on my othopedic dr back when i was just 24 and in my car accident.. i broke 3 limps severely, and lost a baby.. this dr fixed me right up after numerous surgeries and pins, wires, and rods...
he isnt that good looking though, i just loved how he fixed me up when i was at the worse shape of my life...
if it wasnt for his knowledge it could have definitely spelled big trouble for me in the future..
no arthitis (yet), and no complications for the past 22 years, thanks to him...
i think its perfectly normal to have ties to someone whom saved your life..
i know i do.,...
thanks jc, and i hope the hands feel better soon..

When we moved up from Fla to NJ, I lost such a wonderful group of doctors. From my internist to my OB to my rheumy to my urolgist- they were all so excellent and never treated me as though my problems were just imaginary.
I can really relate to getting attached to your OB. Mine went above and beyond caring for my lupus and me and my son. I swer my son put me through 79 hrs of labor just to be delivered by him- I went into labor on MOnday, and didn't deliever til Thrusday night.
I've yet to see a rheumy up here that meets my expectations as a rheumy doc. My rheumy in Fl spoiled me rotten.
I know you'll miss your doc- but be thankful you found a wonderful rheumy.
Sandy
And jc, don't worry about losing your immuno doc. The docs he referred you to will send him letters about how you're doing, so you'll always be fresh in his mind, as he will be in yours.
Good thread. So many bad doctor experiences get posted about, and not enough good doc experiences.
My neurologist is GREAT. And I can't say enough good things about the PM doc who implanted my SCS. He's going to be my favorite person for a long time. After my DH, that is.
i can relate....Mary Ellen
he was my longest relationship with a male that was healthy. than I went to school to become a therapist, wanted to be just like him.
only issue is I learned all his tricks and and knew what he was going to say after 7 yrs before he even said it.
we sadly just got stuck, but I still think about him from time to time.
and still use the tools I learned from him almost everyday.
hugs
