Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I went to 6 Doctor's before I found the one that I've been with for the last 2 years. Yes, it is a pain to have to make appointment after appointment, it sucks and drive here and there to find a good Doctor, but I know that it was the only way that I was able to get the Doctor that I have now.
I hope that you will find a good Doctor soon.
Keep looking like tipper1207 says, maybe you'll get lucky!
it doesn't seem like it should be this hard to find help for something as simple as the idea of pain but it is
good luck

@thaliajen, good luck with your search for a compassionate pain mgmt doctor. Tipper gives great advice as always in taking the time to interview the doctor. I have a great pcp at my local county clinic and she got to the limit of what meds and quanity she could give me. However, I do not have insurance and she was able to refer me to a social service agency that has a network of doctors/specialists that see ppl like me that have no insurance. I really lucked out as the pm doctor I see is a real gem! I am not sure what your insurance status is, but you may want to do some research to see if there is such a network in your area. Here in florida its called We Care and they have all specialists and they see us at no charge and if I have to have procedures/tests/surgery done, it is also at no charge. I only have to pay for the meds he gives me....I hope this may give you another direction to find a caring physican.

Are you near the IL border?
From which site? Thanks.
However, when you're in awful pain you can't think, concentrate etc., or listen to a presentation of Dr. X's theory of "pain control 2011". All you want is relief.

I know that most of us don't want just pills, we want the all around approach in order to have a better quality of life, and that is what I wish that Doctor's will understand.
i would be very interested to know the treatments they seek for themselves, and, if any work for them.
My pain specialist suffers from chronic pain and he is on opioids, so he knows they work. He often recommends yoga, chiropractic, steroid injections, pain psychologist (he goes to one).
