I tried savella but had allergic reactions to it. It worked but for some reason I had the rare side effects.

I've heard great things about Savella. My Aunt was on it and loved it but her ins wouldn't pay for it & at the time the pm doc she was seeing never called ins cos for "prior authorizations" for any patient. She had tried Lyrica before with bad side effects that she didn't get from the Savella & it was prescribed for her Fibro also having muscle and joint pain from Arthritis too.
She has a new doctor now & she's been through a lot this year but next reg appt, I will be bringing up how much that med helped her. No weight gain or swelling in the legs like Lyrica.
As far as Fentanyl patches go, she was on those also for over 2yrs & they were killing her by releasing way too much dose in any type of heat. She would get sick just from going to the doctor in the AC car ride and back due to the heat and how that patch works.
I also know that everyone is different on meds even with the same problems/diseases. Personally I wouldn't take the patch if they gave it to me for free. I think it's a dangerous method by putting it into a patch & they haven't fixed all the problems with delivery.

Fentanyl patch made me throw up the whole time it was on, and even after I took it off, until it was out of my system. I only used one.

And of course Dr. G. said she's had several cases where the cause of death was fentanyl toxicity. Scared the bejebers out of me.

I was prescribed Savella last year. It was so new that my drug store had to order it since no one else around was taking it! I was starting on a very low dose and was supposed to build up.

Well...I never made it past th first 2 pills. I was dizzy, shaky, extremely agitated and sweating like a pig! That went on my list of no no drugs.

I didn't have any trouble with the Fentanyl patch, but my stupid new NP says she doesn't like to prescribe it...no explanation! So I've had a rough time lately.

I've heard that some people do well with Savella. I hope you're one of them.

I have never been on savella, but I have been on the patch almost 8 years. I had good results from the beginning. I first was put on the 25mcg but it wasn't providing enough pain relief so I moved up to the 50mcg and was on that for years. Then I was moved to the 75mcg which I am on now and have been at this strength for about 6 years. It gives me very good pain control and I really have had no bad side effects.

I used the fentayl patch and it was ok the only problem I had was they keep on falling off I run hot so that might of been part of the problem. It also would start to wear off after two days and on the third day I would be in pain. I think a long acting pain med would be so much better for you and then maybe a short acting for a break through med.

like? I tried oxycontin, after 3 hrs i slammed into pain til the next "dose" kicked in, so whats the difference if I dose every 3 hrs w short acting? mscontin made me SO tired I couldnt work( although I didnt give it much time). not really sure I want to do methadone.

I've been using the Fentanyl patch for about a year now, and it works quite well. I still need meds for breakthru pain, and I take Methadone for that. Between the two, it seems to be working.

The only thing I'd prefer is to be able to change it every 48 hours instead of 72, but I can survive. LOL
