Sounds like it's time to look for a new doctor if she doesn't have time for you or your questions. I've had doctors like that & it didn't last long. I now have a great doctor that spends as much time as you need going over stuff. I guess I got finally got lucky. Hopefully you can find a new doctor that will have time to spend with you. Otherwise why are we paying them?

My doc ran ONE blood test where my thyroid numbers were LOW just slightly out of range. Well, depending on which study you read. He immediately wanted me to take hormones. i tried for about 4 days.
When I read the warnings from the mfg, the pain was a serious side effect. I called and the nurse claimed they never heard of that - like I was making it up for ???what???.
Anyway i stopped taking it and felt better. The next appointment he demanded to know why I was not asking for a refil. He claimed that my story about pain stopping was like saying I took my grey shirt off and that stopped my pain.
At that point, I figured I'd better stop speaking and let him WIN the discussion. I was never taking it again.
A year later, he warned me ---- if the numbers were not normal he would DEMAND that I must try that med no matter what. RIGHT! like that is going to happen - EVER

Sometimes they want to think they know a lot about bodies when they are just going with a very educated guess..... a guess it is but we are all different and that freaks out some docs.

oh thats such a sad story...to not have your dr on your side must be frustrating..like ya dont matter...i think its important for you and your dr to have a connection and understanding

Yes I think about that too! I often wonder what they say after I leave!! I have been so lucky with my PM drs and my surgeons.

My back surgeon had a reputation as being an amazing surgeon...the best of the best...but awful bedside manor. However he was great with me. He likes my hubby and they always joke around and talk about sports. But I did wonder if he ever was annoyed with my questions and concerns. Then I read one of his notes in my chart that said I was very pleasant and nice! I don't know why but that ment a lot to me!!

Cherry I really hope your dr starts treating you with some respect. My gosh, doesn't she realize how frustrating this is for you??

I will never understand how drs that totally lack compassion think they are helping us and doing their job. I wonder if she would be like that to someone in her family??!!

I am sorry that your docor Is treating you like that. sounds like you need to find you a new doctor Thats not right that she being. snippy. because you stop taking a medicine. that was making you sick I would have stop taking it as well if it made me sick I have docors that have acted like that Now. I have a new docor and he is very caring. and he listens to my concerns and if I have a problem I just talk to him and he takes care of it right away. Thats how docors are suppose. to act

Cherry, I don't know why she would act snippy when you're the one making the payments on her Mercedes! Sheesh, the nerve! Normally if the worst of the side effects from a med are not gone within 2 weeks, it's time to change. 6 weeks? Wow.

My doctor works with me. I wouldn't have it any other way. I hope you put the kabosh on this woman and find a doctor that will work with you.

Thank you for all the replies and I totally agree that I need a new doc. The problem is that we have a shortage, none of them are in their clinics more than 2-3 days a week and the ones I've inquired about aren't taking new patients.

When I first saw this doctor, I really liked her and she was very enthusiastic about treating my pain and getting a life for me. Who wouldn't buy a ticket to that ride?

Because I haven't responded to the pain meds the way her other patients do, she's frustrated. The way she relates that information to me makes me feel like I'm somehow to blame!!!

I also have a fear that if I switched to a different doc who didn't know me, I'd be treated like an addict and cut off from the meds that at least give me enough relief to drag through the days.

Ah well...sigh

A crazy idea, but have you talked to your Dr. about how her irritation is making you feel? Alot of times people don't realize their showing some feelings....and if she's having trouble getting your pain managed, she's probably not feeling too successful. Dr.'s don't know how you feel unless you tell them. Before you consider ditching a Dr. that otherwise seems to help you...you might just want to have a conversation with her.

Cherry, it seems like lately the chances of getting a good doctor are less than the chances of winning the lottery.

If the damn government would only keep its nose out of our medical treatment, maybe more of us could get relief. You'd think it was prohibition all over again.
