I had sharp, deep pains on the left side of my lower back. Every time I had a pain, in my dream it would be someone hitting me or kicking me. I realized that it was REAL pains. They are in the vicinity of my kidneys. I am afraid I ruined my kidneys with all the pain killers I used to take.
Does anyone else find themselves REALLY irritable? My husband & I had a terrible argument last night. He asked me "what's wrong with you?" He has never quite gotten how much pain I'm in, both physically & emotionally I have battled depression my whole life, but it's gotten worse since I had my thyroid removed & developed the PMR.
I told my MD about the pains this morning & he said "it's the PMR, just keep taking the steroids". He offered me narcotic painkillers & I said "NO thank you!" I don't want to start that again, I had a heck of a time getting off them, & I was only taking 4-5 a day of the lowest dose of Percocet.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

My husband doesnt get it either. But everyone here does, so this is where I come for support.
I hope your pain issue gets identified and can be treated.
Hugs, and take care.

Pain killers can really help if you get a doctor to prescribe the prober ones; and not over prescribe the ones with large amounts of Tylenol.
I don't know what PMR is; but after over 17 years of chronic pain; I know as much as the Doctors as to what pain killers do; and the side effects they cause. They have several new drugs out there that work very well for the pain. So ask to try some of them. But always remember; the second number on many of the pain meds are the amount of Tylenol. If you are already having liver or kidney pain; you absolutely need to stop taking the 5-500 Percocet. Change to the higher dose of Percocet; or try something else. Even Oxycontin may help you. Although it has such a bad rep due to street use; Doctors don't really like to prescribe it. I found after my last surgery that the drug they gave me in my IV after the surgery was the only one that did not make me drowsy; and took all the pain away. I wish I could remember it's name; but it has Laudanum in the name. They do have pills of it; but my doctor said I would be a zombie. However it was the only drug I ever got after a surgery, that did not make me a zombie. So ask your doctor to try other pain meds; or change to another Doctor.
