I got it done but was too frustrated and upset to go get the thyroid test as well. Maybe tomorrow at lunch?
I found my way across campus through the tunnels to the radiology department. I arrived 15 minutes early for my 2:20 appointment. Keep in mind that when they set this up they told me it would be no problem doing it on my lunch hour, just no food or drink until the time. At 2:30 they hand me a one liter bottle of water solution and inform me that they are using this along with contrast I'v so I have to drink this and wait 1 hour before they can do the scan. So much for lunch hour! Then they take the guy in front of me back.
An hour later he comes out furious. They had just left him in the hall for a half hour after they took him back because they couldn't get an I'v in him! Poor guy was in a wheelchair to boot. He is halfway out the door when some comes out and talks to him.. Not apologizing mind you, just explains that they were waiting for an ultrasound I'v machine because they had "forgotten" to plug theirs in.
Meantime.. I am still waiting... 2 hours later they FINALLY come to take me back. You can't use the bathroom or anything after you drink that 1 liter bottle and my sides were about to explode. Again, no apologies and no explanation. They put me on the table, didn't even ha e me change into a gown, and start to put the I'v in. I am like "don't I need to take off the TENS unit and electrodes before you can scan me?". She says.. "oh, I guess if you can". Then once they put me in and position my arms over my head with the I'v port pinched in the crook of my elbow they tell me they have to wait until they do a quick blood test to check my kidney function before they can put in the dye. I'm thinking...you couldn't have done that in the two and half hours that I have now been here for a 4 minute scan!
I was trying so hard to be a cooperative patient, which is NOT easy for me, but by then the pain level was so high and I still had that 10 minute walk back through the tunnels to get to work. To top it all off my leads on my TENS unit wouldn't work when I put it back on.. So no pain meds and no TENS until I got home from work.
I am not sure if I want to cry or be furious. Almost 21/2 hours of missed work all because a lousy ER doc refused to run the CT when my pain doc sent me to the ER a little over a week ago. I am still in my new hire probation period and I am so worried about what my boss is going to say tomorrow...
And tomorrow night I get to play lab rat at the sleep clinic which means no TENS and no pain meds so they can get an "accurate reading" of my sleeping habits. Ugh...
Can I PLEASE have a brownie and a diet come now????

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

I hope your thyroid test goes better than your CT.
It is extremely frustrating having to wait like that. Ridiculous!! And it seems to be everywhere you go in the medical field. What do they do, over book and then can't keep up?! I really think that is probably what happens and they have no compassion for people!
So Ha!!!! I'll just start on my 2nd pot of coffee and chaw down on some of my really special brownies and might even give some to my cats!!!

As for your sleep study...that is interesting to me. I have had one in the last few months, several of my friends and my daughter.
All of us were told to NOT stop our normal routine and medications to do the sleep study. I asked about this and the sleep study center informed me that it was important to see if I was having apnea episodes during my NORMAL sleep patterns which, for me, includes heavy medications.
Just some food for thought.
