Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
The last 5 days I got up each morning and made the decision to not go down this way, so I push through the pain. After all taking these narcotics is suppose to give me some kind of quality of life right? I've done really good, the warm pretty days has helped too. But I feel a change coming on the temps are going to drop 20 or more degrees starting tomorrow. My body hates the cold.
God grant me the serentity to accept this pain, the courage to live with this pain and the wisdom to know when to rest from this pain.
Gentle hugs, Marci
Stinke, you are an inspiration to us all. I lost a job I loved in December and tried working part time, but my pain doesnt enjoy deadlines and demands, I tried. But I do my best to stay at home as a wife and mother without getting depressed. Id much rather be at work :) The pain can play powerful mind games and we have to win this battle. I'm working on acceptance every day but still find the losses to be overwhelming at times.
Thanks
Many studies/journal articles site that people with previously (before CP/IP) poor self esteem, mental health and certain personality traits are far more succeptable to higher pain levels, higher medication needs and lower stabilization rates.
However, IMHO, I think that it is important to recognize that this is not the case for everyone. I wish MD's would not try and look to "normalize" the pain progression/feelings in people. IMHO, I think it is impossible to find a "normal" for us...Pain is as individual as the person.
I am fortunate that I find myself at less risk for complete pain meltdowns as I take away activity. Laying in bed and taking things very slowly/easily are the best ways for me to deal with my issues. I definately do things that I know will exacerbate my condition but, sometimes, life just needs to happen.
In support!
Today I have a real bad one, I've taken the strongest narcs I have and nothing is working, I have trouble thinking, but I'm begrudgingly grateful to be at my job, muddling through the day to make it go faster than if I was idle at home. It's a bittersweet relationship and I know I will cry on the way home, and dry my eyes before I enter the door and my sons see me. But they know.

Sunnbunny, I will scan it onto my computer (from a medical journal) and send it to you in a message. If anyone is interested, let me know.
