Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
BTW, if anyone is interested, the FDA has an email sign-up for alerts on drug recalls. Sign up at the FDA site - I think they're called MedWatch alerts. That's how I know about the recent issue with Endo Pharma packaging - affected Opana and other opiates; the info is at the FDA site.
Take care all, Raggedy

" there was a major recall about 2 months ago that was going to affect pain meds as well as many over the counter meds. i would bet that's what's up. "
first page. kycrystal... to keep up on things like this all you have to do is read the american pain foundation website. sunny didn't mean any harm. i'm sure you're going nuts trying to get your meds, but, sunny didn't attack you, you way overreacted.
and as quickly as i've returned, i leave the cp board again.
later.
ok. later for real
I have to drive 50 minutes to get to my doc, maybe I'm a druggie too? Oh wait, did MI make the list? B/c we all know that if ONE person does it, then everyone in the state is doing it. And people wonder why we're known for fighting?
KyCrystal- I am sorry this happened here. We're sensitive to people who abuse drugs b/c they affect CP patients, but not all of us believe that all of Kentucky is the reason we're treated badly by some docs. I'm sorry you had to deal with this while going through a rough spot.
Good Luck- I hope all is worked out by now!
i was living in puerto rico previously. there you scrip is good for 24 hours. any narcotic is kept in a safe and barely stocked. no pharmacy will give out any info of supply over the phone, even to a dr. if they can't fill it, you lose it. and they write all the scrips on one page, so it's all or none. until i met someone who would drive me around i had to drag myself (cursing and crying), after a day waiting in a cramped office (even though my PM was wonderful there) from pharmacy to pharmacy. they do have chains like walgreen's and cvs - no matter. they all treat you like a druggie every time you go. and you get lectured each time. one day i purposely wore a backless top so he could see my 30 inch scar. it sucks here, but it could be worse.
The pharmacist spoke perfect English as he pulled us over to a corner and offered us these waxy looking Percocets in those long strips of plastic. He then pulled out valium (which I also had in the hotel's safe) and told me "this would be better for your back." DH was shocked, I thought I was being punked!
The kicker was that he offered my DH Viagra! WHY he thought I needed narcotics and my DH, in his 30's at the time, needed Viagra, I'll never know! I've heard that things have really cracked down since then, but it's something I'll never forget. Needless to say, we ended up buying Motrin in the gift shop at the hotel- we didn't want to give that pharmacy any business.
As the OP is just trying to get her meds, I'm wondering if it's one of those Govt rule changes? Like when they recalled Oxycontin or whatever they called the "change", it's just odd to know that these things can happen and we have no choice in it.
Makes me wonder how the "med issue" is treated in France or Spain. Is there any country that is actually good to pain patients?
I was just at the doctor in January, and if my doctor had of known about the med situation, she definitely would have told me and changed it then, i didnt have a problem getting it then.
no one here meant any offense. we're a friendly group and most of us are a little addled due to pain, meds, stress, and all of the above (or maybe just me).
i hope you get your problem resolved soon.
