Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
I walk my dog and we do about 2 miles during the 3 walks that he gets a day, and that has also helped me loose weight. There are days that I not do anything, no yoga, no walking, and that is OK, I give myself permission to stay in bed and rest. I walk with my cane, and I always bring my cell phone, just in case something happens. Start with a little bit at a time, and then go from there. I hope that it works for you.
Hugs,
Maybe try that for a while then go from there
But riding a bike is the only freedom I have. I ride a minimum of 3 or 4 times a week for an hour in winter, and 90 minutes in summer. I have rigid cycling shoes, but even then the pain in my foot is tremendous. But as I told the physio, it will hurt no matter what I do, and at least I am staying in shape, regardless of the pain.
I have also been doing weights and stretches, which helped my whiplash injury until the last couple of months. Now everything I do in that regard makes it worse. I'm not sure what I am going to do, but I am not giving up yet. I feel like I got part of my life back by exercising. Now I see it slipping away.
I wish I had some answers for you.I would say take it really slow and take a day off. Also, alternate your exercises daily. My oldest son, (with no health problems) was 100 lbs overweight and he started out doing the elliptical about 4 years ago, 5 minutes a day. He worked on consistency. He has run in several marathons, and hopes to qualify for the Boston Marathon. Oh to be young and healthy!
i go to the markets here on Sundays and walking around hurts, and we leave there cause of the pain.
First of all I had to Google eliptical because I had no idea what it was. It looks like a stair-climber with arms. I don't think I could do the even without CP. Sorry, I'm not trying to make light of your situation, but maybe a treadmill would be more suitable. That is if what I looked up as an eliptical is what I think it is.
I'm sorry you're struggling, and I too have a hard time exercising. I hope you can find a medium. That water therapy sounds interesting.
Best wishes,
David.

Ray- my daughter and I did the "sit and be fit" kind of to make fun of it, man did it work.
I wish I could swim, the class at 7pm, too late for me, my pain is bad at that time and I dont like to drive at night(kinda night blind). Maybe I could do the sat am one, I just feel cooked after working all week and really like lounging.
