I SO UNDERSTAND! I'm scared too. So far OK with oxycodone 5 mg 3xday but wonder how long it'll be before I can't get it. They are trying to scare docs into not rx'ing it or lose license. OMG! Keep trying to find a doc to give it to you. Pay for it yourself if you can. It's cheap. And then there's vicodin..I have to take at least 2 for same results though but at least it's not a targeted drug. WOrth a try. It's weaker so you need more of it. Forget those people who are treating you badly. Look for other support..like me. Today PT said tens unit is meant to get me off of meds. How dare she! I was the one who wanted to try it. BTW it didn't work. But I tried. I will try ANYTHING at this point. If all else fails and can't get oxy will destroy my liver and drink. What else can you do? I'm going to a new pm/rehab doc..getting referral today. To back up my doc in case they get to him and he stops giving it to me. I won't give up. And if it gets beyond all that before I lose my liver to drinking I WILL turn elsewhere for help. I HAVE to have pain relief. Not enough to stop pain. I am not greedy! Just to take the edge off so I don't cry and scream! Line up docs and go to them. Get a backup even if you find a doc. If he stops helping you you have to have a backup who will. Make it a new career...finding docs to help you. I wrote to the dea about it. They responded but not re: oxy drugs. Only on another question I had. SO they read it. They just don't care. OK I can go on and cry about it...or yell on here for awhile then get busy again trying to find my pain relief. I go for third SI injection Monday. Last one helped a little. Maybe..... Never give up hope. My fear is one day docs won't give pain meds at all. Then suicides will change from druggies to those in pain! God prevent that and help us here. AMEN! Oh try lidocain patches too. They help a tiny bit too. Hang in there. And yell about it here. You are in good company. :) My best to you.

p.s. I'm concerned about OUR stress levels. Try not to let it upset you. Dump here and get rid of stress. Stress kills. Cry and yell here. And keep doctor shopping. My money goes to the doc who cares about how I feel. If they don't want me to have pain meds then for God's sake (for my sake) find a procedure to help me! OR>>>>..................find a druggie and make them share! :) If it comes to that! God forbid.

fire the pm doc and find one that will treat you the way you need to be treated. I won't put up with docs not wanting to help me and give me the pills I feel I need. I fired 4 pm docs because there recomnded treatments were bull crap and I refuse to under go treatments that I have done before and not worked. My current pm doc will at least listen to me. When I see a pm doc that pm doc must do the following or I fire him.
1) he must listen to me and at least try to understand my issues.
2) he must take time with me, understand my entire history and accurately dx me, if I feel rushed or get the cold shoulder and feel the doc doesn't care or if his head is bigger then the planet earth the doc will be fired

I would just suggest you fire the pm doc and fine one that will help you more you deserve way better then to be treated like that

Dear funtome2, i understand everything you are talking about. i've had those same issues and it should be some kind of crime. i,ve made up my mind ehat from now on I will get from whoever as to why i'm being dismissed or no longer going to get my meds, to give me a letter (PLEASE) stating the reasons. you are entitled to this as well your records. until there are laws to help us it will continue. Please try to not start drinking, you will end up with some new problems. can it be gotten over the internet? some people are really scared by what the med. profession has done to them. I am one of them. you shouldn't have this horrible anxiety everytime you go to the doc. or the er. when you've done nothing to derserve such treatment. i'am so sorry this is happening to you. sending you a big hug.

sorry i just wanted to add one more thing. with my insurance i can ask the pharmacist to get a special authorization for the med. that i need, and get an ok from the doctor they then send it to the ins.com. it useually works if i haven't asked for to many. does your insurance offer that option? hug

The fact that your pain doctor won't prescribe ANY break through medication is bull crap! Definitely find a new one. Will your primary care physician prescribe it? I'm on long acting morphine, with 6 vicodin per day. 10/325..which I think is the strongest. It seems to work WAY better than the 7/325. I was surprised at the difference.

What to do????? Fired this PM Doctor and find one that will practice true pain management, not what this guy is doing! Go to: www.raceagainstpain.com or www.doctorsforpain.com, and find a good PM Doc that will take your insurance, and that will treat you right. Too many times patients will stay with a bad Doctor because they think that they do not have any options, so untrue! I took me 6 firings before I found my current PM Doc, and I am glad that I fired all of the previous ones in order to find the gem of Doc that I have now.

Remember..... you employ this Doctor, he works for YOU, you can fired him ANYTIME, would you stay married to a man that treats you badly??? Probably NOT, so why stay with a Doctor that doesn't treat you well????

i want to say, i so sorry what you been going thru...i have to say i agree with the rest of the group here.... i going thru alot right now trying to find me a pm&pd and try getting medical records.

i do like regina saying getting a letter why your dismiised???? b/c the dr never gave me one. so i dont know all of it...

i think also if a dr dismiss ya and you dont agreee then write a letter and tell it like it is and have it put on your recods, this way it might help when a dr ask to get your copies....

antmore that what all drs do they want a copy. then if you have your side in it then it might help.

too many drs believe a dr over a patience.....
i just finidng out my self that alot of these PM drs. i read on there web sites, they dont do meds or they not a pharmacy, and some i read they might prescibe.

then other said they suggested to the primary what they can try, but the pm dont right it,

i confused about that why pm dr want the pd to take care of the medicine. now i agree they need to know so that if the pm goes on vac or what ever then the dr can beable to help out, and yes inofrm,

Sorry you have to go through this. Are you changing insurance Jan. 1st.?

See if they will prescribe the MS Contin 3 times per day if you aren't on that now. They never last 12 hours, everyone's metabolism is different.

Hope you find a new doctor and relief soon.

You would think that there would be a point where you have been through so much that they would try anything possible to help you. I'm sorry to hear they won't . I hope your pain gets better.
