Beware of the virus going around

   I just wanted to warn everyone that there is a particular stomach bug going around in US that causes horrible extended effects.


it starts off with low grade temp, fatigue and dizziness. It progresses into GI symptoms - nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It then attacks central nervous system. There have been cases of viral encephalitis and I had a brief episode of a paralyzed diaphragm. My whole chest and abdomen went into severe spasm, no diarrhea, but the nausea was the worst I ever had. 


If you get severe headache, the treatment is steroids. 


Stay away from crowded places, wash your hands like a maniac, don’t eat out. If you do, eat boiling hot food. I would even boil your water if you drink tap water.

That has been going around in Canada there's been 8 elderly people die of it here. My husband brought it home from work a month ago he was sick for four days passed it to me I suffered with it for two weeks. because of my imbalanced immune system due to chronic pain. It is horrible leaves you weak and very tired. Mother in law had it for two weeks she is 85 and just wore her out completely. I hope everyone stays away from it.. she had flu needle but they said it's a different strain the flu shot was garbage to it. So much for pushing flu shots, glad I am allergic to it. gentle hugs casey

I have a head cold and some nausea but nothing as bad as what you described. I just it's not something that gets worse over time.

What is the name of this virus, and is there any part of the country that has a high rate of infection? Sounds nasty......

I don’t have the stats on what virus it is, probably entrovirus 71 and they don’t usually track it across the US as much as the flu .. flu brings money because of the flu shots

Aronia, thanks for the heads up. I have a co-worker that told me her young daughter has walking pneumonia. I hope she doesn't have that bug. I'll make sure to be cautious.

Pneumonia in young people is usually due to H1N1 flue strains ( respiratory flu). Entero visrus is GI tract.

Aronia, thanks for putting that out there. I wonder if I could have a lesser version of it. For the past week or so, I’ve been having fatigue, dizziness, nausea, ever so slight temp, brain fog, back of head pain, on off headaches, and what feels like inner brain pressure. No GI problems though.

It is possible. Usually I just get nausea with GI bug
