About 3-4 years ago my husband and I bought an Englander Memory Foam mattress set to replace our old worn out set of boxspring mattresses. In the beginning the bed seemed to be okay, so we kept it, but over time it has become increasingly uncomfortable for us to sleep in. I also went from severe low back/neck problems to having RSD in my left side as well. Hubby has bad back, neck on down... that naturally gets worse as he gets older, and well we have decided we must replace the bed, we are just too uncomfortable in it to continue. We are also going to go from a queen to a king. The pillow tops available so widely today make it so that a mattress can not be flipped over like we used to do, just rotated. Not sure if that is part of the problem or not.
Does anyone have a bed that made a huge difference for them? If so I would love to hear about your experience. Same goes for a bed that just didn't work out for you, I'd like to know why.
Beds nowdays are so expensive! we paid almost 1,200 dollars for the queen bed we're using today- seems like we should have gotten many more years using it before replacing it~! But being comfortable in bed is extremely important, especially when sleep is difficult and painful to begin with! I do have a warranty on the bed, but it has to be indented over two inches into the memory foam before replacement will be considered, which it is not.
I have been looking into different kinds of mattresses, kind of interested in the sleep number bed that is adjustable in firmness, seems like that might help for bad nights to be able to get comfortable. Anyone tried one?
Any sharing of experiences, etc would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking of getting the Memory foam, but now you tell me that that isn't much good after awhile - so I don't know what to do. Nuts.

I know it may seem exhausting, but there is no line in my bed and I have about 6 pillows in it too! My bf sleeps on the firm side, it does have a pillow top, so, it can not be flipped. It takes a lot to stay comfy.

The bed I have now is one my Mom recommended and she has one also. It is made by Jamison and has the best coil count.
It is a pillow top that you can't flip but that's no longer a problem.
Usually people with bad backs need a firmer mattress. Also the neck problems could be your pillows so when you do buy new bedding, try to find pillows for each of you that fits your sleeping needs and don't be afraid to spend money on those as most sold in stores aren't worth it nor do they last long.
The pillows are just as important as the mattress. If you are a side sleeper, find a pillow for that.
I sleep both on my back and left side only due to the pain in my right hip and I bought Sealy Posturpedic pillows for side and back sleepers.
I hope this helps as I firmly believe that anyone in pain needs a good mattress and pillows.

I won't buy the ones at the stores because I've looked at them all and found QVC has a brand called; Northern Nights and makes an Uncrushable Feather Bed that is a "baffle box design" which keep the feather from shifting.
They do need to be fluffed once a week, come with a cover that zips over it that can be machine washed. You only need to have one professionally cleaned every 4yrs.
I'm on my 3rd one since 2000 and can't live without it. I've had a friend with back problems sleep on it and say they loved it but when they had to sleep on it for several days, they did complain of worse pain and would use it on and off.
For around a total of $125 to 145 w/ S&H, you can order one online or by phone and the best part is the "easy pay" option they offer so you don't have to pay for it all at once and aren't charged interest for the entire amount and only the monthly payments unless you make them in full.
This Northern Night Uncrushable Feather bed comes in all sizes and even CA King.
It has bee one of the best investments I've ever made and find that by replacing them every 5yrs or less if not fluffed regularly is well worth it.
I hope this may be another consideration and you have 30 days t try it and return it if you aren't happy with it unlike most store bought items like that including the pillows I mentioned that are just as important.
