very sorry about the sleep. good luck with PT.
hugs and hope!
I understand your feeling about not taking Ambien to sleep when you have a little one. When my husband and I were separated, I had Conor on the weekends and I'd never take Ambien Sunday nights because I was afraid I wouldn't wake up in time to get Conor off to school. Now that we're back together, I take trazodone every night and am still able to get up on time. I sometimes fall back to sleep after Conor's left (like today), but I never have a problem getting up.
You did an awesome job with your son this week! I know it must have been terrible at times, especially without a good night's sleep. I think you should definitely go with your husband next year- I think it would be less stressful and you can always find something to do with a child in a different city. Just Google 'traveling with kids'. There are a lot of great websites just for that.
And I don't think this was a rant! Just stating the facts, just the facts, ma'am. Sorrry, I'm rambling.....

Not to throw another wrench into the works..
But..( sorry).. have you given any thought to the possibility that surgery could cause RSD to spread?
( I KNOW..but..it's something I consider with every procedure..
Even just the spine injections. )
Glad you struggled through..
You're almost to the finish line.!
Rest well.
Hugs.....jc
