Honor I've taken oxycotin in the past. For me personally I hated the way it made me feel. Yes it works great on pain. I built up a tolerance extremely fast. So the hour before I was due to take it the withdrawal feelings hit me hard and drove me nuts. I prefer mscontin. I did have BT meds while taking oxycotin. Constipation is a problem but I drink peppermint tea daily and that problem is eliminated haha literally.

I take Oxycontin and it was the first thing that really worked on my pain (30 mg every 12 hrs). I've been on it since last July and only had to increase my dose once in the beginning to get it right. I've never had problems with constipation even though I'm also taking percocet (oxycodone) for bt. I have been on a low glycemic, high fiber diet since July also so that could be the reason.

I was wondering about tolerance and tendonshurt answered that. I have been noticing that I wake up in the morning feeling like I'm in withdrawal so maybe it is wearing off before the next dose is due. I'll have to discuss this with the pm doc.

im on the 30 mg ir oxycontin...it works great.....nothing else helps besides morphine

I cant use oxycontin, it makes me too itchy.I'm on fentanly patches, they work for me at the moment, I'm not looking forward to coming off them and dealing with those symptoms.

WebMd did a fantastic blast against 60 Minutes after they did a complete hour on the horribly addicting life ruining effects of Oxycontin. I was so proud of them for speaking up for "Us" those in need of "Tools" just Tools! The article sadlyis gone and if anyone can find it PULLEEEZZZEE send it to me!! The title was, "Nothing To Fear But Pain Itself!" and it bespoke of the FACT that those in need do NOT get the "High" abusers and Street Users do and it is a drug that used safely can allow someone to actually function as close to normal as any of us ever get to that mythical place. My dosage was kinda on the light side, in combination with 16 Norcos, 16 Somas I managed to squeak by on 400 mgs of Oxycontin a day!

If it's what you need it's what YOU need and that should settle the argument and if anyone gives you any trouble......lemme at 'em! Seems I might have attained a touch of a reputation some places sometimes!

p.s. "If" given the opportunity to operate heavy equipment and have a tree land on you....PASS ON THAT SUCKA BIG TIME!

I'm on Norco which I think is one level below Oxy. Norco has given me my life back but I could still use a little more pain relief and hope to move up to Oxy.

I was on the older version of Oxy LA for a couple months before my insurance company changed. The new insurance would not cover it even with the doctor appealing.
I had the best relief ever once we reached the right dosage.
Smiled for days until I got brave over did it & remembered it was just a band aide for the pain.

Now with the changes made to prevent abuse some say the med is not the same others still get relief. I assume its how each person is responding to the new form. Many of my CP buddies switched to MS Contin which I have nasty side effects to if I go over a a certain dose. That dose is so small I don't get a lot of coverage but its the only LA that insurance would cover.
Some were shocked at how well the MS Contin worked & its inexpensive compared to Oxy LA.

So there are options & it all depends on what works best for you. also keep in mind it building up to the right dosage. Most doctors will start you on a low dose & go up from there & that is how it should be done. Takes time though to get decent coverage for pain.

Frustrating I know but its nice to know there are things you have yet to try & with luck there is something out there that will give you some relief & quality in your life.
