Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...
Then alternating ice and heat.

( you already know you should rest it as much as possible.

When I lay down I'm going to ice it. I have a fear of ice b/c it was a no-no when I was diagnosed with RSD but in this case I think it'd be okay. It's not a limb, and this is NOT RSD pain. It's odd how we have different types of pain. My RSD pain is, for the most part, taken care of. So I always wonder if I have anything else wrong, why it should hurt. I mean, if my meds help the RSD, why not a pinched nerve? Oh well, my own fault for writing all night. I don't like the pain in my fingers, though, it freaks me out!
I had one like that from a rear ender at a red light. My head was turned taling to someone in the back seat when the distracted driver hit us.
I had the exact pain you are talking about. BUt I eventually could not feel my fingers. That's when I called the doc and had a appt for two days later. After a round of steroids it was better.
I imagine mine was injured more violently that yours so you most likely have more time for self care than I. But if those fingers start to feel numb - see your doc. It is not worth the damage to wait.
What I would do, is keep taking the muscle relaxers and let them have some time to work by keeping things relaxed. By all means if it were me I would rest the area.
My all over body pain started in my shoulder blade!
Yes, just one spot and then it began to spread. I wish I had rested it so it wouldn't have pulled all the other muscles out of whack.
I am not a doctor or even know that much about any of this. :)
I've done this before but never this bad. I thought rest would help and I slept over 12 hours but it just hurt worse when I woke up. I'll give it another day and pray the rest helps!
