Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Hi everyone. I have had a lot of things going on in my world so far. Today I tried going back to my factory job for the first time in 6 months (exactly). I was so frustrated! All I had to do was put stickers on things for 7 hours, but I couldn't even stand long enough to do that. I feel completely defeated right now. My boyfriend suggested that I resign from the job, and spend a few weeks getting my strength built back up. I think that is what I am going to do. I want to keep my job, but if I can't even stand up for 7 hours then I can't really do the job anyway. It is a hard decision, but I think it is the right one. Hopefully in a few weeks of working around the house I will be able to have enough strength to get a part-time job somewhere. I was only able to stand for 3 hours tonight, I had to sit for the rest of the day. Even if I just cashier somewhere it would be easier. I would only need to work 3-4 days a week for 5-6 hours a day to keep all the bills paid until everything gets under control pain wise.
I hate being a quitter, but I think that it is what is best for my health at this point. I like the job, it's just too physically demanding at this moment. I'm just kind of looking for support. I feel like really down from having such a bad day. I just want to be back to how I used to, and I don't think that it will happen at this job. It's stressful, physically very demanding (lifting 80+ lbs multiple times a day) and I don't want to set back the small amount of pain management progress I have made.
Any support at all is much appreciated. Thanks for reading my rant/worries.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

Im sorry for what you are going through. I understand 100%. I used to work 12hr days in a factory! Now I cant even stand for 15mn without pain.
I hope things get better for ya....I kinda knew when you said you worked in factory that would not go with chronic pain the way it is....sorry...:(
I'm still frustrated at myself, but I keep reminding myself that I never asked for this. I'm getting used to playing the cards that I am dealt, but it's still rough. I know that with time, hard work, and determination, I will fight to get back as much of my normal life as possible.
The last couple of days have been spent writing up my resignation. I want to word it as best as I can. It is also difficult knowing that I don't have another job lined up at the moment. But I'm just going to do what I think is best for my body, and get back on the horse asap.
Again, thank you all for your comments. :)
I eventually got to the point where I really didn't care what other people thought ... ( it takes work but I really don't care now because they can't possibly know what its like-- I will say what I need to if I feel like something needs to be corrected etc etc...) I have heard enough stupid comments to get angry and if I don't say something for myself --- I will think the rest of the day about why didn't I tell that ass this... or that ... and now instead of feeling pissed later... I say what I need to... after I feel AHHHH *smile* LOL
Anyway Sorry for rambling there - didn;t mean to--- what I hope I got across was the fact that YOU have done something great for yourself! You are listening to your body and taking charge of your life. You are young but way ahead in this way of thinking. Your mom may be *livid* ( as you said ) ok fine mom -- be that then... thats on you- thats her crap to deal with... it isn't a very loving attitude ( thats really too bad... always hope for her to change though - right? ) ;)
God Bless your boyfriend for his support and kindness. He sounds like a winner...
Take good care--- chin up and be strong.... :)
I totally understand you. I cannot sit for more than fifteen minutes and I get exhausted trying to do grocery shopping with my husband. It is very hard to get work even up here. I am on Disability and even if I could find something to work from home.but all the places that advertise are scams you pay us and we will find you work. Oh how does that help make money paying it all out. I wish you luck, do you have any skills for a desk job, computer or typing. You can always work for a temp office. That is kinda cool you get to travel to different offices and your only there for aA DAY OR TWO. any way I wish you good luck. isabee
