HAVE SOME BLACKBERRY WINE.YOU COULD CALL DRUG STORE
ASK HOW SAFE IT WOULD BE .HUGS MINNIE
I don't have a lot of knowledge about alcohol and prescription drugs, being that I have never been a health care professional, and I don't drink myself, so I would say follow your heart and maybe bring one of those airsick bags just in case.
David.
almost all my meds say that i'd bee a fool to risk it.
My PM doc told me drinking on my pain meds is reason enough to take me off of them.
Be safe everyone please. But i haven't drank since i got sick so this is comming from someone who up and quit a long time ago.
i'm not one to judge i just want you all to be safe
I'm in A.A. and have been disabled (primarily bedridden) with Chronic Pain (now "Intractable"), for 11 years, so maybe I have a different spin on things. Clearly, you do NOT have an alcohol problem. LOL! Not saying that. But it has been a topic for me. I would really only concern myself - on your CURRENT meds where the tylonol is concerned. How much are you on? Look. If you're really just doing this the one time, not a problem. Just do be careful regarding your liver. Doctors can be a bit too nonchalant with it - but you can't live without your liver... I think we all need to stay on top of that! Another place where we get to be our own advocates, but certainly worth the bother. Just try to keep the acetaminaphin (sp??), levels as low as you can and remember that you can tox your liver in a single event. A lot of teens looking for attention with a fake suicide attempt (taking a bottle of Tylonol thinking it won't kill them, but WILL get people to realize that they REALLY are in great pain, end up dying this way. Often, they aren't taken to the ER until they're the colour of filthy fish tank water. And they die. So.. Do look out for that. Okay? That's all. And, especially because you don't drink, be SUPER careful if you're ever changed to Hydrocodone. The mixture of a small amount of that and champagne (for example), has killed many people. In addition, it's a good idea for ALL OF US, to be very clear on the rest of our meds. I'm on a muscle relaxer that can kill if mixed with any amount of booze. It's just that no one told me until I decided I had a problem and went into A.A. Now my doctor always warns me with a "just saying..." Think about Heath Ledger. It's often a matter of a very small increase in a cocktail of meds with the booze added. I was on exactly the same cocktail as him when he died. Then I did something really scary on Ambian and stopped that forever! So I don't leave anyone hanging, I woke up curled up around a big bag of dairy products. Including melting ice cream. It's hysterical, of course, but my bank account was emptied and I had NO MEMORY of going anywhere. After that I asked around and heard all kinds of strange Ambien stories. Cooking huge feasts but not eating anything in the middle of the night was common. That's because the hippocampus isn't working. No memory is ever created - much like an alcohol "black out." I know. Just more crap to think about but I do hope it helps. Other than that... Honey! Enjoy your cocktail if you like the slight buzz. If not, do as some writers have suggested and find a non-alcoholic beverage you like the taste of so you can have as many as you want any time you want! Life is short. Pain makes is small. Grab all the happiness and joy you can while you can!
OH YEAH! Got to watch that Honor Bar action! Off topic but for hoot value.. And it's okay to laugh at me - that's why I'm saying it! The first time I encountered an Honor Bar was with my new sweetie. It was a really high dollar hotel. There were so many amenities, I just assumed this was one. You know, in case the VIP gets a hankering for Macadamia nuts. There was always something every time we came back and things like appertifs, chocolate covered strawberries, cheese plates, you name it coming to the room via some guy bowing and calling him "Mister." So he's out at sound check (we're both musicians), and brain surgeon/Miss Sophistication over here gets hungry, wants a drink and hits the honor bar. Big time! I was young, active and had the metabolism of a track star. And, of course, choosing the most expensive stuff - like the aforementioned nuts. He always had this psychic thing with me - even if his timing was less than perfect. And this was after he (very cutely), asked "So, if you were going to take a month off work - how much would it take to cover that? Like $2,000.00?" I was a waitress in Austin in 1986! He was so damned adorable, it was so hard to stop laughing at him and the confused look on his face as to what was so hysterical. "What? Is that too little? What?" So, after I raid the honor bar, he comes in and asks me "Baby? You know about the honor bar thing, right? I mean, if you want anything, just order from room service because...." AHHHH!!! I just showed him the trash! So yes! By ALL MEANS! Do bring your beverages and snacks of choice! And don't forget those little things that make you feel better :)
Drinking on methadone can cause dangerous resperatory depresson.
And drinking on morphine ER can cause the morphine to be released too quickly into your system causing an overdose on the morphine.
So if you happen to be on either of these meds please talk to your doc
