alcohol question

I am going out of town next month to a sci-fi/fantasy convention with some of my friends I am usually pretty bored at these things but Its fun to get out of town for the weekend. They like to drink smirnoff ice alcohol like the rasberry kind. I haven't had a drink of alcohol in like two years I don't drink at all and when I do I have one smirnoff ice and thats it. It doesn't get me buzz or anything I just like the flavor. well I am on percocet 10/325 I take two in the morning and two in the early evening. and I am on 100mg of ms contin a day. I was wondering if just having one smirnoff ice is going to hurt or if I should just avoid it all together. It would be nice to have one but if not I will stick to my pepsi its not a big deal it was just curious if i was allow to have one every once in awhile. I know most medications say if you drink more than 3 a week or something to avoid it but I didn't drink one a year lol.

Places like dunkin donuts and some stores have the ice flavored drinks and they don't contain alcohol, some are called smothies I think. They taste pretty good maybe they'll have something like these at the convention.

having one drink shouldn't hurt,i drink once a year and it goes to my head.
once i have had my drink I'm on water and coke for the rest of the day.

I fully understand what you are saying. I am on the fentynal patch 25mgs and Dilaudid 2 mgs every 6 hours as needed, and sometimes I will have a drink. I too like the smirnoff the Raspberry is the best! Go ahead and have one is what I would say. I have not had a problem with it, except a little head ache once in a while.

You know, I ask my PM Doc about this before New Year's Eve, and he said, "go ahead have a glass of champagne!", so honey, one should not affect you, when in doubt, ask your Doctor. Take care and enjoy your Smirnoff Raspberry!

I wouldn't mind one of the raspberry things right about now.LOL As everyone said, go ahead and have one. It's not going to do ya any damage. (You might giggle a time or two, though.LOL) If it's been two years since you've had a snoot, I would avoid anything harder...you may end up out of your blouse and not know what happened.LOLOL

I don't drink at all...never really have. I would not recommend alcohol consumption while you are on medication. The best thing that I could say would be to check with your MD.

Every once in a great while I'll have a drink and I just don't take any meds four hours before or four hours after I have that drink! That's my rule! If you read your med directions it will tell you no alcohol. It doesn't say for how long though. Ask your doctor if you are not sure though.
Go have some fun though and have some for me!! I use to go out all the time and never drink and always had fun playing pool!

Howdy, I'm one that isn't into mixing meds with alcohol, but (and did discuss with my GP) if I am more than 6 hours past my meds, a drink or two won't hurt. That too, especially if it is only "once" in a while vs regular consumption. Hope that helps. Enjoy!!!

I have a glass of wine every so often. It usually makes me very tired. But I would talk to your doctor. You might also want to try one at home so you see if there is any interaction. You wouldn't want to get sick on your weekend away.

I agree that an occasional small amount of alcohol won't hurt you as long as your meds are okay and you aren't having any bad side effects.
I am not a drinker either but love the jamaican me happy ones but only drink maybe once or twice a year and one is all I want or need.
Unfortunately some people do take pain meds and other meds and drink alcohol on a daily basis or too much. That is dangerous and any alcohol does increase your medication's powers.
You sound very responsible and I don't feel you should have any problems so enjoy your night.

I am not a big drinker either, the only problem is sometimes I would get a headache and I am thinking that is not something you want being on vacation and all especially since it should be pretty crowed and that by itself can give you a headache.

If it was me I might not chance it just because I would not want a headache on vacation but I dont think it would hurt you with taking the meds.

Because I was curious, I google the amount of alcohol on the Smirnoff Ice Raspberry drink, well you should know that it is 5.0% of alcohol per volume, a shot of Nyquil is 10% alcohol, so honey, go for the Smirnoff! TeeeeeeeeHeeeeeeee!
