Chronic Pain Support Group
Physicians and professionalsdefine pain as chronic if it lasts longer than three to six months and is persistent. It's distinct from acute pain that is a direct result of injury or trauma. This support group is dedicated to those suffering from chronic pain. Discuss treatments that have worked for you, find advice for your specific experience, and find support. You're not...

Hey, all.
This isn't a check-in post.
..this is the question..
Do you think a daily check-in post is a good thing for this group?
..this is not supposed to get controversial..PLEASE..
Just to get a consensus. ( I'm nowhere near well enough to spend time stirring up controversy :-) .. and... this will take me forever to type.
I feel that a daily checkin' is a great thing for this group.
..whether it's a " breakfast".. or..whatever.. setting.
..if there are, say .. fifty active members on a board..
And.. each one uses the board in a journal style...
Like.. their own daily checkin' post. Well.. just imagine what that would be.
..I KNW.. there are events and occasions that we all feel need specificly and special attention.. maybe more than what they feel can be gotten in a group post..
But.. if you observe this.. or other.. groups..where there's a general..group check-in..
The participation grows..
And.. one actually gets MORE responses than in individual posts.
The whole breakfast theme thing..I can take or leave ( nothing personal, Mr Bill. I'm just not a breakfast person :-) :-) :-)
..When I started..years ago.. doing a " Good Morning Chronic Pain post.. it really was meant just to be a hey..how are ya..what's up..kinda hang out kinda thing. A comment about the setting..got some people making setting scenarios. An off hand joke about meds in my creamer.. turned into an avalanch of drug references.. that many of us became uncomfortable with.
Coffee/tea/cocoa/soda..? ... turned into breakfast.
All..or none.. of which, is fine ( except for the drugs reference thing that got taken too far)
My own.. personal opinion.. is that DS created the Journal feature.. in part to keep people from using the " boards" as their personal diaries. .. that just can't work when groups become dozens or more people.
..I know that new people enjoy " check-in " type posts.. as opportunities to engage with the group..
So..
My question is..
Is a daily check-in kind of post something that the majority prefers?
( OF COURSE no one is ever required to participate in any thread.
Just.. would you prefer that there was one?
This is not about me. Or MrBill. Or anyone else who might be one to make such a post.
I just want to know..
Is it something we should even be putting our, very limited, energy into?
I have .. since I found DS.. always had what is in the best interests of the group as a whole.. and, in particular.. for that new person desperately seeking those who " get it ".. at the heart of most of my participation here.
I do not... have strength or will to use my limited resources on things not wanted, or helpful, here.
So.. daily check in. Yes/No?
Hugs to all
jc

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I just cannot see doing it alone. I often like today didnt get on computer before noon. Hence no checkin for anyone else unless someone else would have wanted to start it.
In past it was so popular we would get two conflicting morning threads going because everyone was willing to start it and sometimes they were online at same time! I actually liked those days-it was fun here!
Now it seems dull to me! A chore! Start the morning thread and hope others post! Not the sense I had for it before-even if you happened to start the thread!
Oh well let the masses talk to the question! I have ears to listen to what others say! Hugs and thank you for this questioning post! We need feedback!
I do believe this is the longest post you have done yet. :):)::
Yes, I like the daily check in post, with the day in the title.
Even if someone only flies by dropping Leprechaun dust or a bag of hugs. Just saying Hi, I am still kicking!
I hope others feel the same.
Thanks for the post. It is nice to hear the good and it is helpful to know if someone needs extra support.
I received very heartbreaking news today, and I just can't wrap my mind around it. Today is an emotionally hard day, and that causes the pain to increase. It has been good to be able to reach out and someone throws a rope to help hold you up.
Take care. Wishing all a low pain day. Hugs-RJ
Mr. Bill, I don't know how you can be awake half the night then be creative enough to think up a different breakfast food scenario each morning. I read it the post each morning but am too sleepy to form a coherent reply. Zzzzzzz.....
The check-in post is a wonderful opportunity to share, listen, learn and support others. I have so enjoyed them each time. A really wonderful way of connecting.
I would like to see it stay 0 its a yes from me (but can be however often possible).
JCyou thank you for asking and hug to you :)
I like your idea so my response would be "yes". Keep it going.
I enjoying hearing a bit about members and have made new friends.
Check in is a nice place for someone new as well.
Thank you jc
RJ sorry for heartbreaking news. I will grab hold of that rope my friend or throw it if someone hasn't already.
